Something very wrong at Collingwood
You are indeed correct. This season is far worse than the 1991 Premiership hangover when we missed the finals by about 1 game. Not this year. Could possibly beat Richmond but after today's woeful & pathetic display, you would not put any money on them. BYE for now.

Done diddly done. Ah well, it's been a fantastic couple of years. Something most other clubs could only dream of.
Let's hope we can at least watch Essendon and the scum crash and burn over the rest of the season.

It's easier to make those hard calls when you've got viable replacements. Been down to 5-6 AFL listed players at times this year at VFL level.
I was calling earlier in the year for Frampton to be dropped and players like mcinnes to be given game time. But was shouted down. As I was today when I suggested too tall.
Now everyone is throwing the toys out of the cot and saying season over play the kids. We should've been cycling them in earlier to re generate the list
I get it we were all happy last year and the memories last. But probably happens to most. The joint becomes like a cult after a premiership where you can't question anything luxuriate and over celebrate.
That's why Collingwood never has dynasties. In my life 1990 = celebrated for 5 years
2010= Had a dynasty list and Eddie and co couldn't navigate the succession
2023= Don't question the fact it's an old list.
Ironically I think k finals are.possible. beat Richmond and build from there
Results going our way. Today was more badly handling wet conditions

Absolute rabble.

Great trading boys… effectively Ginnivan and pick 6 for Schulz. Genius

And the backline is seriously fkd.

How Markov is better than Dean, I’d love to know.

And Quaynor and Moore can take their new sponsorships and shove them up their asses. Absolute pretenders.

Please leave Derek. And let’s recruit a proper head of football and head of recruiting. Ash Johnson instead of Jai Newcombe. Another genius move. And quit the Collingwood arrogance and start rebuilding through the draft. How about starting with a proper KPF…. For the first time in 15 years
I’m sorry to intrude and I’m not having a crack or here to brag, but I agree Derek needs to go and now.

As for Newcombe you guys never had a chance to draft him we took him at 2 and you guys to Ash at pick 3 i believe it was?

Mods you can delete if you feel I’ve said something wrong.

I have been saying pretty much what you have stated so eloquently. OK. I am still absolutely amazed how Derek Hine has kept his job. When I think about the selections of Schareburg & Freeman, respectively, when compared to what was available to us over those 2 picks & especially Patrick Cripps, then I am simply amazed. Then we had the Dayne Beams recruiting debacle & so & so on. Finally, I do not understand Collingwood's aversion to recruiting key position players. I think that the last time that we recruited key position players was in the 2006 AFL National Draft when we drafted Reid Dawes & the other guy who played full back in the 2010 Premiership team. Regardless, we are totally finished for 2024 on today's form. OK. Goodnight & good luck.

They humm from the same hymm book sr36 does and that it is a easier to spot a talented mid/HF/HB then it is a KPF and feel it's a lower risk pick.

It's imo a foolish viewpoint especially when you consider Hine invested heavily into our 2010/11 teams spine T.Cloke, Dawes, B.Reid, N.Brown and as a group to come through together.

Everyone will focus on Ginni killing us and becoming a solid role player for Hawks.

Reality is that what may not get thought of is that he may well have needed a trade from Collingwood to elsewhere (the team he grew up supporting, no less!) to turn him in to whatever he becomes. He also fits their window perfectly. He had a great game today but he will be a very good/solid role player in the Stevie Milne archetype (love to hate him) for the next decade.

Ginnivan was always destined to be a very good player.

This Collingwood team officially made my 9 year old daughter cry half way through the 3rd quarter as she wasn’t able to wave her flag for 70 odd minutes because the muppets on the field could only score behinds.

She brightened up a little when DeGoey scored our second goal as she could wave her flag and then we promptly left which made me happy.

I can’t wait for this season to be over.

Not that I expect us to bounce back.

Merely so next year the wider AFL world can stop talking about us like we are a good team and that beating us is some form of accomplishment.

Our team and system needs rebuilding.

We hit a bit of gold and struck whilst the iron was hot in 22/23.
Road the momentum and teams hadn't worked us out quite yet. We were deserved premiers but it was foolish to think we were a dynasty in the making with our list profile.
List decisions look to have been done with one eye open.

The really obvious thing that’s lacking is without Adams and Mitchell the engine room grunt and hardness is gone .. crisp sparked up for a few weeks and dropped off again JDG can’t run as his groin obviously an issue so nick’s flying the flag on his own

So true.

The engine room is the biggest concern. We don’t have players in there to complement ND and JDG. Very worrying.

I blame the movie we released over summer. 🤣
It was an uncomfortable watch. Smacked of hubris.

Our list of players under 25:

Carmichael - Retired
Richards - He's had a decent year, turning 25
Murphy - Retired
Quaynor - Having a terrible season
Mcreery - Was about to be dropped before his injury
Dean - Might be okay with more preseasons
Macrae - Will be delisted
Parker - Not sure
Begg - Delisted
Eyre - Not sure, hasn't started well in the VFL, injury prone.
Mcinnes - Not trusted by the coaches, struggles to have an impact. Could still make it

Nick Daicos - Gifted F/S. GOAT

Ned Long - Potential delisting
Ryan potential delisting

Steene - Too early to say
Harrison - Had a few good games and a few poor ones

Allan/Jiath/Demattia/Smit too early to say

Basically, get ready for a big rebuild lads.
I’m not sure McCreery was ever going to be dropped. He does so much behind the ball. Of your list I’m convinced TJ is going to make it. McInnes will make it. It doesn’t help when your coach subs you out and then drops you. Dean, when you think about it, hasn’t played in two years before this year. I’m baffled they played him in the first game and then dropped him. Dean should have started in the VFL and then worked his way into the senior team. MaCrae has been crucified at the selection table. Ned Long is just starting his career. There’s no reason he won’t succeed, but he doesn’t have pace, and it’s pace we lack in the midfield. I like the look of Smit. There’s a lot to work with. It’s players like Begg, Johnson, Ryan and Allan who worry me. They have shown nothing that convinces me they’re going to make it as AFL players.

Fly's presser was another disappointing assessment, firstly Hawthorn did not hold territory early, they ran the footy and overlapped and scored quickly.
They simply worked harder than us, and a lot of talk about us being unfinished and continuous in our development creates an excuse for inadequacy in the present.
He also brought up the "On Monday" reference he likes to use, I hate this so much, it creates a sense that efforts and commitment that is not there is forgiven.
In any other job if your boss is pissed off and you know you're not cutting it as collective team there is consequences, the sense of comfort disappears, and people step up out of fear and desperation knowing you can actually lose your job.

The past means nothing, the things Fly references happen every week, we will do this, get to work, improve every day ETC, seem like empty words and deflection to me when you hear it week in week out and the performances get worse.

I hope to God he is not afraid to upset players or put them on notice, complacency has set in, and the team is in disarray, I just pray behind closed doors the message is being delivered a hell of a lot stronger than it appears to be.

9 games in a row with under 50 inside 50’s.

The ball movement and game plan has been blown apart.
What ball movement. We were exciting to watch now we are boring to watch. Back to Buckley boring to watch.

The part which most annoyed me is that Fly challenged the group and they didn't give a yelp.

Are the players gassed? They don't care? Or is there a deeper problem?

Was talking to someone post game and for the first time I heard Fly linked with the Tassie job? Surely not? GW was also mentioned but that is common knowledge.

Another lame performance.

Didn't even lay glove on Sicily let alone anyone else. We really have thrown in the towel.

I can't believe how many teams allow him to free wheel, all teams should be placing an athletic defensive forward on him.
Told to just follow him and compete, don't let him get free marks or loose out the back disposals. He will take you to the ball and give you a look at it.

Tom Mitchell isn’t what he was, obviously, and his form wasn’t flash early. But we haven’t replaced him at the coalface and we just have no grit in there. Nick is Nick, but Pendles is one armed, Crisp is more a runner, De Goey is like an elephant on ice skates with his movement.
We needed Long or Sullivan to offer us a bit in there, but perhaps it’s too much.
As a very starting point we look two key mids short, one stoppage specialist and another prime mover to take some focus off others.

Don’t start with saying something negative about Fly. You’ll be shot down by the usual posters.

Steady on.

There’s a world of difference between critiquing our current situation (poor) …

… versus …

… spraying toxic bile about a coach who (fact) won a Premiership 18 games ago, and (fact) presently has the best winning percentage of any current serving coach.

We’re all disappointed, surely it’s not asking too much to exercise a little perspective?

Pretty spot on IMO. Agree with all those changes.

Pendleberry should go on. But his days as a starting square mid are done. He should be the onfield coach from a back or forward flank.
Howe is the one I'd keep. Even with the weeks out, I think he's been our best defender and best forward over the last 2 months.

If fly pursues the tassie job so be it, highly unlikely though. He did say he doesn’t see himself as long term coach.
