Simmo fighting for his job. Fair play too. Gaff has been a stalwart for the club and a loyal servant, but he would’ve known this tap on the shoulder was coming after that performance and the state of the club.
Yeah now that it's a reality it is quite sad. I commend Simmo putting it out there early to avoid a weeks worth of speculation. All I've heard about across various radio and podcasts today is will Gaff be dropped and how does he keep getting a game.
Yeah agreed. Coming out straight away and saying yep he's dropped is a good move. I honestly expected a mystery illness or leg injury to be announced or them to just back him in again
Even more impressive was the language in the Rhino interview. No sugar-coating or "he's been a warrior" talk, it was just "nope not good enough, go back to the WAFL like you should have to"

It's not even a proper WAFL game either, just a preseason hitout, so quite the slap in the face. Warranted though.
It had to happen, but still sad to see. If it wasn’t for the right forearm of Tom Jonas, he would have played 169 games straight from round 17 2011 until the Brayshaw incident in round 20 2018. He was an ironman who just kept going and going & was a shoe in to play 300 games for me, but now he’ll likely fall well short.

Gaff probably would have been pushed sooner hadn’t it been to needing seniors and the ones that produced decent footy when on the park were spending more times watching on from the coaching box than being on the park. Redden early retirement hurts, while he made the correct call I thibk he’d still be pretty serviceable
