AFL Toast Round 20: 48 point win against norf

Really poor game by Essendon.
With the team we had on the park, what did you expect the result to be? I’m taking an 8 goal win every day of the week.

Never really got out of second gear. Still looked good though. Our midfield depth is quickly disappearing.

Stewart looks much better up forward. Was good for Menzie to get a run as well. Hopefully with the last few games we can unveil another kid or two.

Well, I’m sure we can all agree that a football game just happened.

Honestly, I’m nowhere near as annoyed about the lack of clearance work as I otherwise would’ve been. Looks like we decided it was a losing battle with Shiel and Parish out and backed ourselves in around the ground to compensate. The mark and tackle count clearly shows it.

Solid debut from Menzie, keen to see more of him.

The Crichton is Redman’s to lose.

Lmao, some sad grey-haired shadow just yelled “**** you Essendon” into the door of my train at Richmond. I keep saying it, pathetic marginal people the lot of them.

The only thing we can really take from this game is that Redman is awesome and so many north players’ tattoos look like generic options from character generation screens from last gens consoles games

As many have said, not a great game to watch by any stretch, and it really looked like 2 average teams going through the motions, but winning is better than losing and it's another game in to the young brigade.
Skills were deplorable across the park.

Redman continues to impress, Laverde and Zerk were really good, Ridley played well in a game that was tailor made for him. Stringer played game he always should against lesser teams. Draper and Merrett worked well

I’m surprised you actually saw a North supporter. It’s like a sighting of Bigfoot.

Played like s**t, won by 8 goals and feel like that flattered Norf. Zerrett everywhere, Red-dog phenomenal. Not sure I’ll watch the replay tbh
100% and we had no midfield by the end of the game and still flogged them.

Caldwell (off injured)
Shiel, Parish, McGrath all missing 😳

And yes wasn't our best game, we were pretty fumbly and ordinary for the most part.

Surely this game would make the club prioritise Dunkley? I’m of the position that we need two mids. An experienced big bodied mid like Dunkley and a draftee like Tsasas .Our full strength side is barely hanging on. A couple of injuries and the midfield battle is over.

That sort of game can make you lose form.
You sound like a troll🤔 I thought it was a good win for a team without Parish, McGrath, Shiel and Caldwell injuried.
Draper was up against an experienced ruckman he would of learnt abit more tonight. Essendon teams in the past could have dropped that game it wasn't perfect, 2MP was pretty quiet but they got the job done.

We were outmatched in the clearances. Shiel and Parish in this regard would have helped. Shows us that we have nowhere near enough cover in this area.

The forward line looked a bit less cohesive. Perhaps due to the introduction of Stewart, or that we were generating the forward entries from the back half (due to North's midfield dominance). It was very tall with Wright, Jones, Stewart and Stringer with Landford going through a bit too.

I thought individually, Stewart gave more than Phillips as a forward (with Wright as a good backup ruck). When Wright is being held, 2nd ruck is good. When he's dominating, you don't want this. Either way, Menzie and Guelfi should continue to work together as small forwards for the remaining 3 games.
