Round 4 Adelaide vs Carlton

I would love to see the MC put out exactly the same side that played so pitifully on Saturday night, there should be no scapegoats for a team-wide capitulation.

Obviously this won't happen. Judd should replace one of of Lucas, Joseph or McLean (if he doesn't come up). I'd lean towards dropping Joseph given that Adelaide only have Petrenko as a crumbing forward and Joey's only other option is a tagging job on Vince, McKay or Van Berlo.
Bower too is an automatic inclusion if fit and I'd like to see him replace Houlihan. Houlihan lacks pace and aggression, he is a liability unless he has the perfect match-up. Whilst I'm loathe to take one of our better kicks out of the side I just don't think he does enough with the ball to compensate for his defensive frailties.
Despite Warnock's poor performance I'd definitely keep him in, Adelaide's ruck stocks are in a bad way and I reckon he can take advantage around the ground and dominate a part-timer in the ruck.

We desperately need a marking target at half-forward but I don't see one on our list and to be honest the problems on Saturday night started a lot further back. Our lack of courage bringing the ball out of defence was disgraceful, I don't think we took a single risk in the first half. I laughed out loud when our fullback of all people showed the rest how it's done when he spun away from a mark in the middle of the ground and speared the ball onto eddie's chest forty out, straight in front. Our problems this weekend were all in the head, which is a worrying sign but not one that can be fixed by wholesale changes.

:confused::confused:

Good post other than this.

10 kicks, 4 handballs, 9 marks (with shit delivery), 4 I50's.........not bad for a 20 yr old CHF being worn all night by Fletcher. ;)

Wiggins will be in the mix this week due to his ability to mark strongly on the lead. We struggled finding marking targets coming out of defence and Wiggins can provide this, as well as closer to go goal.

Great news. Once again it's shown that despite what the BF fan club thinks we just need more blokes who will have a red hot go for the whole game. We need Wiggo's courage, physicality and commitment. :thumbsu:

Walks wasn't the worst out there by a long shot, but I don't think him being matched up on Gumbleton helped. In fact, I thought Ratts and his staff got the majority of there matchups wrong.

Again

Too late now if Bower comes back in. Either White is not cutting it or the MC are to scared to pick the player for the backup role he was drafted for

If White has what it takes, he deserves a chance even if Bower returns. Jamison needs some help! An unsettled line-up leads to us improvising with Walker. White wouldn't be taking Bower's spot in the team but rather Austin's.

I guess it really depends on what's happening at the other end of the ground - Waite seems to be treading water post injury, Henderson is still finding his feet at AFL level as is Setanta at FF.

Despite the underwhelming performances of senior talls, it'd be a big call if Waite, Setanta or Thornton made way for a first-gamer. Similarly for that reason I think experimentation with 3 rucks will have to be put on the backburner too.

Our next eleven games are on free to TV, so we have to start our run now if Judd and Bower are back.

That level of exposure could be a curse, not a blessing if we struggle.

I doubt that Bower will get up for this game if a post that he was limping at training are true.

In: Browne Judd White
Out: Armfield Houlihan (send him back to the boxing gym for a weekly belting *cough*Shane Strempel) Thornton (stop, prop and turn it over)

I like the Thornton description summed it up perfectly.

Waite should b put to the backline so he can find that confidence he had at the start of last year, at least that way he can run with the ball (so b it cheap possies) rather than be a target inside 50 where his confidence will b shot if it doesnt get to him him ..

Once he finds this the move to the fwd line should b made.

Take this however you want, but my mail from a bloke who generally gets good info is that Bower's still not quite right.

If this turns out to be the case, I reckon we send Waite down back and bring in the Wiggler. As many have said before me, at least he'll have a dip, can take a mark and provide a target who can bring the ball to ground.

We all knew going into this year that going forward was gonna be a tricky proposition at times, so it's really up to Eddie and Yaz to step up this week.

We haven't seen Hampson anywhere for weeks yet no injury update! WTF is wrong down there. Has he gone AWOL? Back to QLD? Abducted by aliens???

Thanks Shambolic. Just had a look

Nothing to worry about folks, he just has a 2 month niggle!!!:mad:

The club is a disgrace. He is out for 2 months and no update anywhere. The whole joint is a shambles!

Poor David Ellard, was given the Musashi Trainer of Month and just seemed despite his great form for the Ants and training well that he wont even be given a chance at the Seniors.

Fun fact: also mentioned Jarrad Waite's nickname is 'Fat' ;)
