I think you're a bit off the mark with this one. Last year we didn't really pick on form. We picked on role. Unlike the old way of picking the inform player in the VFL to play a totally different role in the AFL, they're picking from the blokes who are playing the role they want to fill. They're prefacing system and making sure the incoming player knows how to play the role in the system.
This. Markov is the closest we have to WHE (Allan the other, tho probably not quite ready and not sure how good his tank is). Provides similar running ability. It's not like there's anyone else demanding a spot either.

VFL form is not always a good guide and just picking the best performed VFL players is too simplistic. Kyle Martin would still play for us of that was the only metric.

Markov has plenty of speed & we need some of that for sure. But in all honesty he is a pretty ordinary user of the football.
Hopefully he can at least put the clamps on his opponent, without turning the ball over too often.

Game day is here. Carn the Woods. Need to bounce back after last week.

This is a pretty perceptive comment. And it was true for under Bux too.

He’s definitely got the gazelle bone structure, but WHE can’t pull his shorts as high.

Obviously no mathematician, but just on a quick AFL ladder predictor for the rest of this round; 1-30ish point win we finish the round third. 40ish point win we finish the round second. 50+ we finish the round on top.

Not that it matters at this time of year but we ought to knock the Saints off the top.

I remember the good old days of 2022 when we were trying to see how low our percentage could get and still make top four😀😀😀😀😀

The Saints want to control the ball with marks. They average 7 more marks than the 2nd most marking team. We are 15th with only 83 marks per game.

You look at the individual average list and it’s basically all their defenders who average more than Nick Daicos.

Furthermore, they’re also #1 for Intercepts and #3 for defensive 50 rebounds due to essentially being a bit more defensive in their setup.

This is not to say they’re only a slow team but they can explode and play fast when necessary. They tend to “explode” once they reach the half way mark of the field. This allows them to setup behind the ball. They tend not to take too many risks from D50.

In the 4 games, the Saints opponents have had 17,16,19,20 scoring shots. However, no one’s kicked more than 74 points and the other 3 have been 60 points or less. On the offensive side, they’ve kicked 94 or more points on 3 occasions.

If we allow their defence to take marks and pick apart our zone, we will be on the back foot. They don’t have the greatest forward line, but they spread the load effectively.

I’ll just be happy with a win.

Expecting a response after last week’s show. Not gonna lie though but I’m not overly confident this week either .

I’m hoping ginni has a big game back and our fill in rucks can get the job done. Think it’ll be a close game but hoping we can come away with the chocolates and remain injury free!!

GO PIES!!!

Must win today, because I have grave concerns about Essendon fully exploiting our weakness in the ruck on ANZAC Day. Provided we stay in the positive on our win/loss ratio, I'm sure top 4 will be obtainable when we get some ruckmen back. Just have to hang in there
