Autopsy Round 6, 2024 : Hawks skittle Roos

He's a hard worker Xerri but he has zero ruck craft.

Meek's hit out and clearance work was decisive.
He's not a ruckman's arseh*le. As I said in an earlier post doesn't position himself where he should around the ground anywhere near what he should be. Obsessed with winning his own ball to the detriment of his fellow midfielders. His stats do not tell the true story at all. A whole lot of rushed possessions and no impact with much of it. SC ranking points an absolute laugh. Newcombe and Moore where miles more impactful on the game and scored much less. Meek was the better ruck today don't care what anybody says. I was there. Both his goals Xerri was nowhere near him , complete no man's land because he's sole purpose is to hunt his own ball.

Nash would want to be careful.

He's a Mitchell pet and I get why, the upside is enormous (literally, at 198cm) and his year last year was excellent.

But hustwaite and Stephens aren't going to be raw kids forever

I can't see 2024 Nash being part of a premiership team, 2023 Nash yes, but it's feeling more and more like an outlier...

What the hell have you been smoking??? Stephens will be delisted seasons end whilst HH has a mountain of work to do before he gets a game before Nash

Nash is not normally that terrible by foot. He worked hard today and did the physical stuff that was a hallmark of his game last season. I trust he will polish up his kicking a little, and I suppose you can deal with the dumped up and unders when they're hurried clearances.
In his post match interview, he spoke about cramping up at different times

Hooray, a great feeling to be on the board for season 2024 and brilliant to be able to belt out the song finally. Lots to like, ripper of a second quarter. Here's hoping the confidence gained from a win can carry over from here.

Go Hawks!

Good win it’s only North but it gives them a bit of confidences going forward going into swans next week. But a win in round 6 in 2024 isn’t going to be remembered when will are hopefully playing finals in few years.

Doesn’t really worry me who wins our games as we are rebuilding, I just want to see glimpses from the players as what they are going to be and for them to be competitive and try their best as I feel we haven’t really seen much this year unlike last year.

Mackenzie looked good again showing more glimpses each week, MacDonald and Newcombe played well so did Moore and Meek, hopefully Serong stays in.

Stephens can't get a kick at VFL level. He'd be at risk of being delisted to free up a MSD spot if clubs could do that.

The AFL player rating system is a bit screwed up when it comes to rucks, I feel. Constantly heavily overrated. Both Xerri and Meek were independently pretty good, but both being rated in the top 5 players on the ground despite being direct opponents suggests that something is missing.

I enjoyed “Metres Gained Meek” today.
His two plays of 65m goal and 60m pass to Chol were a few of my highlights from the last few weeks.

If we were to move Moore into the midfield to add some grunt in there I wonder if he could play like Dane Swan did at Collingwood.

I like Finn up forward he is a good mark and with his running ability puts pressure on guy he is stopping and makes them defend or in some cases they don’t. Kicking goals happy for him been written off a few times
Great call - starting to join the “ most maligned club but starting to shut quite a few supporters up “

Current star luminaries are Dylan Moore - “ too slow” Frost - “ too dumb”
Scrimshaw “ too soft” Nash “ will never make it”

Really happy for Finn, think he’s found a home in his new role aside from tagging

Having to watch the bounce to see our team sing our song for our first win is as low as the merger years.
4:00 game against the beggars on Sunday night.

Then having to endure the comedy genius of Andrew Gaze to hear the song of my first win of the year!
How is the bounce still a show? Surely nobody watched this shit

Bring back before the game.

Was happy with the second quarter and more than happy with the win, but that was a 10 goal belting that went begging.

Still lots to work, particularly our propensity to try to play perfect football and overuse.

When we get back a few the squeeze will be on but he is so strong up forward in clearances as well, which he hand balled out and led to a Ginni goal
