Shit first half.
Second half, the intent and intensity ramped up.
Jack BOWES, Tom ATKINS, Max HOLMES, Ollie DEMPSEY, Tanner BRUHN
We’re all instrumental in the 10 goal turnaround.
Hawk and Jezza were a little better.
Miers and Stengle kept quiet.
Toby CONWAY is getting a great schooling.
Kolo again the unheralded defender.
Close an improvement over the past couple. Good to see.
Rohan doesn’t touch it much but makes sure they know he’s there.
All in all. 4 pts is what was needed… badly!
We got it and move on to Sydney at the SCG.
Cheers boys! Enjoy the win as it’s been awhile.

Call a spade a spade though, we were not good
Yeah not point happy clapping that effort.
Good to win, good to avoid 5 losses in a row.

But solved nothing for the future.
Only resolution we got tonight. Mullin to the twos for the rest of the year to learn midfield. Nowhere near at the level atm.

Your first paragraph is spot on.

It has happened all season. I reckon it is our lack of speed in the midfield. When everyone is fresh we can’t keep up. Then the speed goes out of the game, we can close down the oppositions run and we play a field position game.

The bad news is that there is no quick fix.
I think one of our most important signings this year would be someone like Darren Burgess. My priorities:

1. Max Holmes ✅
2. Tyson Stengle
3. Darren Burgess
4. Bailey Smith

....

5. Anyone else

Enjoy it, I’m not stopping you. I’m entitled to my opinion and I am very unimpressed what what I saw. I don’t think i am alone on that. Richmond are a very ordinary side
Nobody thinks we are playing well but we scrapped out a good win. Played a solid second half. The kids stood up again. I’ll take that.

I agree 2s midfield would be good for him. I think he is getting better though and think he'll be a player. I'm not against more games for him

Moving Dempsey to the forward line did seem to be the spark that ignited us in the second quarter

After that point, he seemed to play a role similar to what we saw from him against St Kilda in round 1 - start forward and push up the ground

In the weeks that followed, he moved more into that permanent wing role and at one stage was rated in the top 5 wings in the comp. Even during the warm-up tonight he was purely with the midfield group

Maybe we need to better find the balance with him between time forward and working up the ground - maybe he's something of the Rohan type replacement up forward who can compete in the air and cause problems at ground level, while finding a bit more of the ball
I see him as our next Steve Johnson or what a non injured Menzel could’ve been. He’ll accumulate the ball, set up goals, kick them from anywhere, take species and occasionally do stupid things. Kid is a freak! Can’t believe people called for him to be rested, he’s been solid and had his highest possession game a couple of weeks ago.

Olly Henry being subbed out changed the game.

He's great when we're flying but really needs more strings to his bow.

He wasn't terrible early but of course could have done more - worth mentioning ''hamstring awareness'' was offered as the reason for his substitution rather than a tactical/form issue.

Regardless I agree that Rohan's inclusion coincided with a change in the team's fortunes.

But how does crying like a child help?

If it makes you that unhappy maybe you need a new hobby. I hear knitting is strangely satisfying.
You’re being very dramatic and emotional. Nobody is crying like a child or that unhappy.

If you can’t handle reasonable criticism of the side, then maybe knitting is more your go as well.

Believe it or not, but you can play crap footy and win.. Especially against the second worst side in the AFL.

the less said of the first half the better…

Best game Bowes has played for the club bog. Never make him the sub. He starts. Tanner was good.

The backline is a strange one. Individually kolo, Henry, Zuthrie all good. SDK soft. Stewart not sure. They just aren’t working as well for each other as we can they can.

Holmes and Dempsey that’s our future right there.

And the umpiring. It’s getting to the point where it’s unwatchable.

Take the win but if that was Against Sydney they’d put us away half way through the first.

Thought Mullin kept showing a bit, took a step back by being a bit tentative tonight and caught out of position but that will happen. Still did some nice things and he has an incredible ability to turn on the spot. Guy will be a gun, playing in the twos won’t help him, has to learn in the big league and he’s developing well

Mullin's role eventually will be that attacking HBF they wanted Max Holmes to be. Sort of a David Wojcinski type.

I'm not sure I agree with that. This year early on he was showing an ability to bring smalls into it, but now we're dropping it onto packs from 50m out he can't do that.
H3s been given the 3rd-4th best defender and surrounded by Miers Close Stengle.
Doesn’t chase tackle or run hard. Only have to watch him at the ground and it stands out like my dogs knackers.
Our forward fifty will benefit from not having to play him TBH.
Rohan gives us more. Dempsey gives us 5x more. Even Neale with under 5 games under his belt gives us more.
Sorry buddy, just not enamoured by what he brings.
Very over rated by plenty on here I know.
Not for me.
