Welcome Welcome National Draft Pick #13 - Jordan Gallucci

Lever had strong connections to the AFC prior to the draft in a similar manner to how our current draftees felt when drafted. I am not too worried about Lever. But it all stems from success. If we falter and take a tumble down the ladder well interstate offers become more appealing. If we keep playing our entertaining brand of footy he would be mad to leave. The only time to be worried if a player wants out is if they refuse to entertain contract talks until the end of the season of their final year of their contract.
Or when they say: "I haven't thought about it yet"

Was nice to see Jordy and Myles adapting to AFL life quickly. Probably operated at 100% in todays presser for cliche answers.

Not a criticism of them individually but it was interesting how prepared they were for the presser already.

I think the acadamies prepare them these days prior to the draft.

Hey all,

I am a long time lurker who hasn't posted since the Tippett saga (hence the username as fish bowl's were all the rage then!)

I genuinely think the club has turned it around in relation to the interstate go home factor - the efforts they go to now to ensure the draftees integrate into SA (all 5 are living with current players according to afc website). Having one team in the SANFL also must be great for building bonds with the club and also for development of game styles etc. Then you have the Adelaide oval factor. There are plenty of reasons to come here. The ones who want to go home will go for $$$ or more opportunity just like every other decent club.

Now re: Galluci I have some third hand intel ( I never have intel and never will again just to get in before the haven't posted in ages troll comments! lol) from a family relative who said he and the family are super impressed by the crows who have got to know them all very well since the under 16's and the crows were genuinely his preferred destination. They have gone to every length possible to make him and his family comfortable about his transition - eg having his car relocated for him. So there you go probably not ground breaking but it looks like the crows have drafted a great character here and hopefully he thrives in our tight knit environment.

Anyway...fingers crossed we haven't drafted any patricks, kurts or jacks and I'll go back to my lurking unless I have something else to contribute - seriously funnier than watching TV this place sometimes keep up the passion and go crows!
Thanks, you should post more often. :)

Anyone notice the resemblance?

With Gallucci's vertical leap he could probably out jump the lot of them.
I've seen him play mate, and on those occasions I never saw him take any speccies, his killer attributes that I have seen on display are his speed and agility.
If your expecting him to be taking spectacular contested marks I think you're in for a disappointment.

important to remember jumping in volleyball is always off two feet.

his standing vertical is beast, but he got beaten by a handful of guys in the running jump off one leg.

EDIT: having said that he still has the power in the legs of course and technique or lack thereof would be a big factor. Arguably he's got more important things to be working on though.

Maybe the birdman can teach him how to add this to his game. He has the leap. Thought I saw vision in one of the youtube clips of him taking a big leap and bring the ball down to the front of the pack. Might have even then roved it himself. I just had a quick look and couldnt find it so could be wrong.

The short answer = both AFL Academy boys...They don't just teach them football skills there..

Kind of glad to hear that.

A lot of guys try to leap too much when they know they haven't ability to jump.

For a mid I would much prefer he use those strong legs for a burst of speed over an unrealistic leap for a "car".....

hahahahahah that is hilarious, I couldnt give a toss about Westen Bulldogs , Sydney or Collouingwood, why would an opposition supporter give a toss about us. I would if it helped us win a premiership, the only feeling I have towards opposition is what ever gives us an advantage.

As for an even playing field we all know its not possible for the most obvious reason ever, but we signed up to the situation we really cant complain about it, but there arent any alternatives
True about the supporters maybe, but it can't hurt to have a profile as a club that presents the club as a 'core' or 'real' AFL club and not just one of those fringe hanger-ons from the far reaches. Same as, mentioned above, having guys like Tex and Sloane up and about on the Vic-based footy shows.

Maybe not the whole answer, but it helps.

That flies in the face of the club comments saying there were no mids available for us except Gibbs who landed in our lap at the last minute.
The fact that we couldn't land one of a very small number of class players who were established and mid-career at their clubs is not evidence that we can't be an attractive environment for draftees, and retain them.

He took "a massive hanger in the finals" as co-captain of Vic Metro according to Hamish in the welcome video.

Ogilvie said he took a massive hanger in the finals.

don't worry, we'll all remember to come back and say Bicks was right when he retires without taking any big marks.
I'm not saying anything like that, just don't expect it to be an outstanding feature of his game, his speed and agility is what will excite along with the obvious defensive pressure that brings..
