Have we had a player with a higher number play an official game?

Is 52 a result of the maximum squad size of the AFC at the time, ie 52?
Yes, Rehn took the last of our 52 list number.... even though I think Bickley was our last player selected.

Sam Smart wore #54, but never played AFL.

Don't think there has been a later number.

LOL ....I've never understood it

Logo's also do nothing for me in Footy

When I lived in Adelaide & followed the Bloods religiously .....I was manic over whether we'd play with white or black shorts .....the Bloods kit was so much better in black ....I thought the same with Glenelg, better in black
Doesn’t care about numbers

Is all about the short

Matthew Powell wore #53.
Stuart Wigney & Sam Smart wore #54.

Edit Tony Hall wore #55 in his 1st Crows game against Carlton in 1994.

Jake Lever wore #56 (must have been in his 1st season, not sure if at AFL level).
Shane Tongerie #57.
Where’d you get these from?

No way hall wore 55

Apparently did only in his 1st game against Carlton. May be his normal guernsey was ripped?

AFC official website link above.

You just lost your house lol.

Or….

Or…. He’s the 55th player to wear the jumper.

Jim Carrey Alrighty Then GIF by Ace Ventura

Did he have his top torn off during the game and had a replacement top with 55 on it?
That's what I 1st thought, but Samcro24 nailed it imo that he was the 55th Crow player to play AFL.

Ps. We must have had a player who ended up in a high number in those early years when they didn't have plenty of replacement jumpers.

There have been plenty to end games in different jumpers after ripping them during the games.

Where did lever in 56 come from?
From my google search too.

Reckon he played all AFL in #6, but what number did he have when he 1st played in the sanfl?

Edit- reckon it's AI ****ing up as he played 56 games.

Think they’re especially overblown with our current midfield mix. Draper doesn’t need to be a great user when he’s surrounded by Rankine, Dawson, and Soligo.
You kind of do when you’re the line breaker though.
Inside mid not so much

The obsession with numbers is one of the most cringe and bizzare obsessions I have seen from grown men.
Agree but I am grateful because it has led to the most ridiculous non-story of all time, where Lachie Murphy couldnt decide between his favourite number (4) and 44 because "it has two of them"...

Perhaps time to revert to 44 to be twice as good... in the sanfl.

I'm more interested in him having "ummed and arred". Isn't it "umm and ahh" as in the noises you make when you're considering something? Or was he dressed as a pirate when making the decision?
