Geezuz.. the kid isnt a rory laird, ned mchenry or ben keays..

3 blokes that try their hardest but just arent AFL standard..

Fit as but cant play footy.. two of them can barely kick a footy.

This is a kid who has a shitload of raw talent. Speed to burn and can find the goals.

If he was fat this year (and I personally didnt think he was too big- maybe a bit of puppy fat) then look out when he loses it and Darren Burgess gets him to full fitness..
Cause his “fatness” this year certainly didnt hinder his speed and agility.

I get “jake Stringer” vibes.. without the jake stringer ********edness obviously.

He can be a medium forward who can pinch hit as a bull through the midfield like Stringer did at his peak..

Have no doubt the club has kept him under wraps all year to tank his value and he also had a couple of niggles last preseason..

Reckon he will surprise many in the years to come. Massive potential to become a fuxkn absolute weapon.

Got him for virtually nothing.. whats to lose.
Surely you aren’t still rolling with keays not being AFL standard?

He is a kid. just needs to learn to be professional. He will be mentored. No need even for a discussion. Otherwise is it any different from Whitlock sliding to pick 33. Skinny as a rake. id be way more worried about his ability to put on weight than welsh ability to lose it and run.

As for why he dropped. Thats easy. learning. changes to his natural game.
The issue is that he will have already been mentored, being in the Crows' program. That it has got to this raises many questions.

Being a supreme 'looking' athlete is not an absolute requirement to play AFL to a high standard, look at Willie Rioli - he carries lots of weight around the midriff. If Welsh can get his fitness to a reasonable standard he has more than enough ability to knock it out of the park at AFL level.
For context, have a look at Welch’s photos from the start of the season to his latest …. he most definitely put on “ conditioning” …. says he very diplomatically

Now it’s about attitude to hard work

Honestly, I'm just amazed anyone has the confidence to commit to such a dumb opinion

A lad who had two AA's isn't AFL standard. Right. Equally a lad who put up nearly 50 G/GA this year.

Anyone calling him fat need to stop. It’s shaming, it’s inappropriate and dangerous.
Mmm? …… if in your job, you fail to meet acceptable standards …. you get fired

In AFL your body composition / fitness levels are part of your job

There’s no reasonable position to take a PC position in relation to Tyler’s Job

Most workers get a 3 month probation period …. Tyler has a 2 year probation period, which is very generous

BTW ….. i’m a huge fan of Tyler’s abilities and rapt we got him

Add Lairds 3 x Club Champion achievement ….. Bearded Clam has shown a very poor ability to analyse players ….. defining a players career by his latter years is ignorant

And I'm officially old!
Tell me about it. In high school when having a kick around we'd all yell our favourite player's name when we did something (like the old Modraaaa, Yablett, yells). Mine was "Welshy!"

And yet we re-signed Nicks and to save face brought in Davis to pseudo coach. You don’t always get sacked if you don’t meet acceptable standards.

+1
Claiming Keays is not up to AFL standard is a bit of a stretch.
I'll back the AFC coaches rating him as the current joint club champion over a random internet poster every time.

Himmelberg and Gollant moving on should also help him in the SANFL. He had those two, plus Burgess and Toby Murray to contend with in that forward line. Whenever I watched the SANFL he seemed to be banished out to a flank (while Gallagher was almost in the carpark).

My sons might be soon!

I wouldn't say panicking. Our investment in Welsh is absolutely minimal. Pick 58 is nothing. We have only taken two players later than him in national draft in the past 10 years (Sholl / Signorello).

But there is absolutely validity around the discussion of why he slipped so far. One year ago he was touted as a top 10 pick.
Then he slips to pick 58 and there is a bunch of press around his horrible 2km time trial. Combine this with him carrying an obvious belly and there is enough there to warrant discussion.
Reckon you’ve changed your tune slightly on this …. For the better . You’re making absolute sense

It was good to see some of our young guys (Chedder,Ryan and Curtin) with Welsh when he was drafted.
Most of them would already be close to him having spent the year playing with him in the SANFL.

IMO losing them might hinder his development a bit.

He wont be ready to take the number 1 or 2 mantle

On another note Jeffcrowe - as our resident draft expert I have another question.

Why in the world don't clubs be more aggressive in bidding for opposition players. Looking at Ashcroft this year. Brisbane would have paid any price to get him. Why wouldn't Richmond bid pick 1? Its not like Brisbane had any other high draft picks available - so its either pony up or completely miss out on him.

The Essendon player I understand as there was genuine risk of them selecting someone else if they used too early of a bid to secure their academy player.

I was just going off the draft tracker height of 192cm but what’s 1cm between friends.

As we know it’s all about NECK size anyway !

And he is going to LOVE hurting people this guy, needs to be careful as would expect some clumsy actions to cost suspensions

Not too many pick 59s over recent years with this lads skill set
It's actually about arm reach....

Some of your thoughts are so out of whack with reality

You hear what you want to hear … take things way out of context, because it suits your narrative

Mick Ablett on SEN this morning calling Nicks an outstanding coach

If you think Davis is actually developing the game plan then you truly are deluded …. i know what was said by Silvers, you took it literally though

There is no coach or no organisation that would take the game plan style out of the head coaches hands …. the fact you believe the contrary says everything about your limited knowledge

Off-topic but WaynesWorld19, didn't realise the new logos had hit BigFooty's emoticons.

Awesome.
Yes, but in dark mode, you can’t see the outline of the dark blue Crow

I’m going to try and get the version with the gold outline
