He has plenty of talent does young Stewart. He needs a massive rocket though.

Clearly not otherwise Surjan and Banner would not have been delisted and Ebert and Logan would probably be searching for new homes.
As devastated as I am about Surjan being delisted, I can absolutely understand it. I still would hate to see him playing for another club but that looks like a reality now. It looks to me that the club had a choice between Surjan and Logan and they've chosen Logan. Without a doubt, Surjan is the better player so why delist him and keep Logan? I don't know the answer but I can hazard a few guesses. By his own admission, Surjan completely lacked any form of application in 2011 which ultimately cost him the vice-captaincy. Prior to 2011 there was the well documented rift with Motlop, no doubt a major contributor to the player in-fighting we heard so much about. In 2012 Surjan returned to peak form but a injury midway through the season ultimately ended his season. These negative factors in combination probably put Surjan behind Logan. Now lets look at Logan. Die hard attitute, works incredibly hard, leaves nothing behind, finished top 3 in the BnF in 2011 when played as a small defender, takes nothing for granted.
For all the potential Banner has, his downfall was always his lack of defensive accountability. Could barely crack a game at SANFL league level at 2 different clubs in his 4th year in the system. Had to go. Brett Ebert for all his faults, was able to hold his spot all through 2012 at AFL level once he earned his promotion in Round 8.
Those are my 3 +/- Russell.
Gillies and Greenwood should be achievable. Young unlikely, given that Collingwood will chase him hard and will be far more attractive to him.
Profit???Port list management model:
1) Keep ALL of the deadwood
2) Delist senior players that could be easily be turned around by an incoming coach with new ideas (and new fitness staff)
3) Draft Vic Metro flankers

I have no issues with clearing deadwood.
Clearing deadwood is fine.
If these delistings had been joined by Thomas, Hitchcock and Logan i'd be much more okay with it. The fact that Surjan who pre-injury was the premier shutdown small defender in the league gets delisted while Tom "the sieve" Logan is retained is absolutely staggering.
Wait til you see the ridiculous contract we offer Young. We must have enough room in the salary cap for Lionel Messi. How are we going to pay 95 % of the salary cap when most of these guys will be replaced by 18 year olds on standardised contracts?
The coach of lack thereof isn't the problem, its that with no coach we kept `stability' in footy ops.
Surjan wasn't all that great last year or this year, while Logan was OK last year. They are the same age... Maybe Surjan has injury problems as well?
I don't really think there is a whole lot of difference between the two, but I do agree that Surjan is usually better. I don't think it is by that much though (not recently), and TBH I don't really think Surjan was better than Logan this year.
I would have kept Surjan because he is the smarter player, and does have a higher output at his peak. The question is whether he could hit that peak again though.
I don't think its an appalling decision. The delisting of Banner is the one that confuses me the most.
Don't know why surjan got delisted but i have noticed they are all short players.
Surjan... Logan
I don't really think there is a whole lot of difference between the two,
Except for Daniel Stewart.our whole list is short now
