Nicks today saying if the right player is there we may have up to 3 picks
In the mid season draft

he mentioned small forward role and quick midfielder as options they were focusing on

no mention of ruck

I'll just quote what I dug up on Parnell on the AFL draft central on Friday for anyone interested in what we might have:

From an AFL draft central write up of young guns earlier this month:
"There may not be much of the diminutive Murray Bushrangers defender, but it hardly mattered as Parnell went about his business with typical assuredness from defence. His turn of speed and willingness to move the ball on quickly from defensive 50 was an early feature, capped by terrific decision making. With most things happening at speed, Parnell was able to execute his skills with aplomb, including one particularly memorable inboard kick across his body to hit a target at half-back during term one. The 19-year-old is a very neat kind of player who is reliable in tough situations and seems to understand the game well. He impressed with his spurts of possession, but has plenty of size to put on."

April 21 match notes:
" The speedy mid-season draft prospect has put together a strong start to the NAB League season and he was again one of Murrays best providing great rebound at half back and was a solid 4 quarter performer. Although a smaller and skinnier defender he did well to take some nice intercept marks and even a contested mark against the highly touted forward Kai Lohmann in the first quarter, Parnell impressed with his quick ball movement and desperate defending showing a good mix down back and its no surprise to see him taking kickouts with his speed and kicking. Along with some nice spoils and 1% plays Parnell finished the game with 24 disposals, 5 marks and 6 rebound 50s. "

It's not much to go on, but a tough and skilled outside midfielder was a need and it sounds like Parnell will end up as that.

I literally posted just yesterday on our need for run and carry from defence, but Ogilvie has noted he can play further up the ground.

I can only imagine that Hamish sees someone else more promising in the next draft (or two) in terms of Rucks.

Like this selection a lot, definitely gives off Caleb Daniel vibes.

Riley Knight is too good not to be on an AFL list.

Anyway hopefully ends up like a Caleb Daniel type

He actually doesn't look like a midget. Looking at his physique, I reckon he might get a bit taller.

Honestly, he looks good. But what does this say about our faith in Jones?

Not much, but at this stage that's probably smart. Jones may work out as a rebounding defender but if he does it will be a happy surprise rather than the expected result.

Hopefully he can prove a lot if us wrong but I cant see too much more growth - what a 182 finishing height?

Not surprised Stengle went undrafted. Clubs can be quite averse to drafting players that have been sacked for misconduct

He put a 18 month contract on himself. Don't think many teams would lock him in for next year at this point, pick him up in the rookie draft if you have a spot and need next year. He's not so good you'd be devo if you missed him here.

He seems talented. Got a nice boot and turn of speed. 178cm. Obviously we think he can develop into a nice rebounder long-term, compared to the mature agers that are being selected

I'm hoping that the club think he is a forward ?

Worst case scenario he still plays for our SANFL team and gets better visibility to be picked up in the next draft then he likely would playing in Tasmania. We could still take him as a rookie pick if he plays well.
