Merrett, Parish and Stringer had career best years at the same time. Stringers been completely gone, Merrett has been below that since his ankle injury. Parish 5% likely in the absence of support.

Also Shiel missed most of last year.

It’s not this bad. Heppell, Merrett and the like haven’t always been this poor, looking for sideways handballs and kicks in the backline. If a coach told them to go forward at every opportunity they might turn the ball over but at least they’d have some purpose and challenge some teams.
