As much as I'm indifferent to his capabilities as a media performer - he was a legitimately good footballer.

Very, very highly skilled by foot. Very good overhead. Very smooth mover.

I don't dislike his public persona per se - I just don't think he's a very polished, likeable or insightful media guy.

But the dude was a gun player.
