No probs with Shep to the middle by the way, should never have been back. I hope Cripps plays too. We need speed. I'd have played Cripps before Hams.
I think anytime you can address a failing midfield by losing a mid; a forward/mid and a defender and replacing them with 2 defenders and a small forward, you have to do it!!
How much time were Hutchings and Lecras going to get in the middle anyway?
If we had versatile midfielders your point would be valid but when you have Priddis, Kerr and Scooter only playing in the midfield (players fairly similar to Hutchings as it is), with Shuey and Masten behind them (players who offer things that Hutchings doesn't and who should be in the midfield more, not less), he's only going to get a handful of minutes there a quarter and be unsuited to his predominant role on the wing/HFF.
Not to mention that with the intensity and defensive accountability that Lecras is playing at he shouldn't be anywhere near the middle.

I am amazed Hutchings was dropped but Adam Selwood is still in the side. Oh wait, no I'm not. I guess woosha doesn't care about our future because he'll be walking at the end of the year.

The point of my post is the MC basically did nothing in selection to address our failing midfield.... perhaps I was too subtle. Not normally a failing of mine

As I said I am not too bothered aside from Hutchings, but I am livid that he is out. Worked harder than most on Monday in a losing side in only his third game, would do more damage on a HFF/Wing than Embley.

In a nab cup game last year I think, he cleaned up a Freo(?) player really nicely.
He's 188 cm and 90kg so there is a fair bit of him. Foot skills will be the second best in our back 6 on the weekend though.

Ploddus is a sandover medallist so he's too good for WAFL. He is at AFL level for sure.IMO he's not a footballer at AFL level, as such he sits outside normal parameters
Selwood better have a good game, he does nothing with the ball

That height and weight means he's struggling for 3rd tall status. Hardly "a fair bit of him" .....
I'm interested to see his disposal at the higher level - it's a key asset.
Meaning more in terms of weight.
