Ken came out and said he was ready after their game last week.

Fully expect Ryder to play.

We didn’t have Nic & Scott last season.

Dixon is a concern
Dixon is spudding it up atm but loves playing us. Could bring schoey for Jetta this week.

It’s not gonna be easy for Ryder to play against 2 of the most physical ruckman this week.

There is no point in getting petrol a first game and then drop him. As expected he had an average game, give him few more games, then he can go back to WAFL to work on things. A derby for your first AFL game is some call by eagles.

Yeah huge call. Shows match committee actually have big balls to take big risks this year. Its paying off in spades.

Dropping Petch after 1 game is what we USED to do. I don't think it's our way anymore.

You need to back your young players in and let them reward you by improving the following week and benefiting the club as a whole moving foward. Bringing a kid in for one game and dropping them the following week is what Worsfold would constantly do and i think it hurt the club in the long term.

OUT - Jetta
IN - Watson/Nelson

Undecided. Watson did some very nice things but he also has lapses in focus, it's hard to tell if he'd be ready to jump up to the next level.

Ah Chee isn't ready yet IMO. He wasn't among the Royals top half dozen players (Ginna, Schofield, Brander, Mallen, Ainsworth, Ameduri) if there was an injury or if Watermans form was average he would be my choice, but right now isn't the selection frame.

Same goes for Brander and Mallen unfortunately. Brander in particular deserves a game.

Out: Jetta (inj)
In: Nelson

B: Sheppard, Barrass, Hurn
HB: Duggan, McGovern, Cole
C: Gaff, Shuey, Masten
HF: Cripps, Darling, Waterman
F: LeCras, Kennedy, Lycett
R: Naitanui, Sheed, Yeo
I: Nelson, Redden, Rioli, Petruccelle
E: Schofield, McInnes, Watson, Hutchings (held over)

No point dropping Petrol after one game, give him a few weeks to find his feet.

Wouldn't mind seeing Watson come in for Jetta but Nelson was unlucky to be dropped and is probably first man back in.

If Masten gets rubbed out he'll be difficult to replace. Who'd have thought we'd be saying that?

Masten will get a fine at most.

Its not like he bit anyone

You're all wrong on giving Pet another game. He wasn't just a little bit off where more game time will see him improve enough to be a genuine contributor. Needs WAFL games to develop, where he'll actually touch the ball and be involved in the play. If you want to keep him at AFL level, get him to run drinks. That's about as much contribution as he had yday save one "right place right time" intercept (and don't fall for this speed stuff. He had 80m of space ahead of him and 2 teammates to dish off to. Pridda would have dashed away with it in that instance).

We have plenty of kids who deserve a game (Ainsworth, Brander, MAllen, Watson?) and a few seniors in Schofield & Hutch.

so you alone are right?

Ahchee wss average today playing a lot of time on ball . Doesnt seem like a natural accumulator. I would lime to see arch hit some wafl form .
He isn't Ahchee is your 22 touch a game midfielder, who might score a goal or 2 when swung forward. He can take some great contested marks, has an insanely good handball and has good goal sense.

Shame it sounds like we wont see him this week. Looking forward to seeing how he goes. He was highly unlikely to get a gig here but if it can just click for him at some stage he certainly has the potential, and we saw that at the end of 2015 when he had a few amazing weeks to round out that season.

he got 4 touches and squibbed it

showing good signs would be an overstatement
Then instead of having one and half good game of WAFL let him have two or three. He kicked 4 goals and ppl got excited.did you expect him to have 20 touches and 3 goals playing against men on his first game??

You can’t have it both ways.Set your expectations

No changes unless injuries.Interesting to see Eagles are the only team in the comp doing it a little different

Using two rucks which is rare
Using three tall forwards with resting ruck making it four talls at times
And having smaller backline compared to their forward line

Interesting combination that has worked so far.

Big test will be against power( different style), giants( in their day a really good team) and premiers tigers to see if this game plan holds up.Worth taking the risk against them on a 5-1 record.I can’t wait.

Dixon really hasn't, he hasn't been amazing but he hasn't been bad. He won the game for us V Sydney, and played ruck again all game against North, probably again in our best 3-5. He's just playing a lot of ruck minutes which is messing up his stats. What he has done poorly is kick for goal. 4 goals 8 has skewed his stats.

There is no way i would drop Petch this week.
A little bit of coaching this week could change him completely.

I was at the ground and i watched Petch at all times yesterday. It was just his positioning that kept him out of the game. He stayed a kick from the the ball at most times and the ball didnt go near him. His man wasn't getting it either.

He will learn so much more playing against Port, than at East Perth.

He is building fitness in the WAfl . Went for some big grabs on Sunday without marking them. Not quite ready.

Best available Petrol doesn't play. Still i think he's worth a second go at it and the reasons i'll give are two fold. Firstly it's a home game with a home crowd and secondly he just played in a flood fest of a derby.

Port Adelaide will want to kick a competitive score and so should we. At worst, give him a clear defensive half forward role and hope he finds himself in space going the other way.

If Jetta misses, Schofield is the guy I would bring in.

He has been in great WAFL form, and has both the size and mobility to go with Dixon and Co, particular as port are a bit taller
