Forward Shane McAdam suffered a sternoclavicular joint sprain in Sunday’s win over North Melbourne and will be monitored at training this week,

no bleddy wonder he was limited during the game and was down but to finish the last 1/4 with 3 good goals speaks volumes as to how crucial he is to our side

Matt Crouch commenced running over the weekend on his road to recovery.

Injury list as of Tuesday, April 13
Shane McAdam (SC joint) test
Brodie Smith (knee) test
Rory Sloane (eye) 2-4 weeks
Matt Crouch (groin) 3-5 weeks
Daniel Talia (foot) 7-9 weeks
Lachlan Gollant (finger) 8-10 weeks
Mitch Hinge (shoulder) season
Wayne Milera (knee) season
What on earth is an SC joint?

Is McAdam the first footballer who's ever injured it? It's the parvovirus of football injuries

But what is his spot in the side currently, doesn't seem to be in the midfield a whole lot considering he was drafted as an in and under mid?

Not looking at him as a long term out as I believe he has a Place in the Crows future,
But against Freo, we need ball winners, otherwise, we are going to get torn apart.
Also, I have watched his Heat maps he needs a break and a chance to dominant.
To be Honest his heat map and ground coverage is close to McHenry yet a few are calling for him to be swap,

Nik Cox is the protype big man that can play anywhere. Our recruiters have been very slow to this realisation. Tbh if we got pick 2 for crouch(which was never happening) i would have liked us to go Cox along with McDonald or Thilthorpe. The bonus with Cox is that he can play back, forward, wing, ruck. He is lightning quick and has sublime skills along with being a great contested mark. Cox may have been the best selection in hindsight at pick 2. Time will tell.
If we had picks 1 and 2 and didn't go for a mid, and went for a Vic metro KPD, could you image the melts?

He plays the deepest forward alot.... strong mark for his size and fast on the ground

Most clubs would probably just call it a "shoulder". There are multiple joints in the shoulder and the sternoclavicular joint is one of them

AC joint: top of shoulder - attaches scapula to clavicle
SC joint: front of chest - attaches clavicle to sternum
Then there's the actual ball and socket part

This where you need a Trent Ormond-Allen. Krakatoa.
That was Trents One and only. His ability to jump. I remember watching my brother in the Under 17's and 19's for Port and all the parents and supporters at the games were just waiting for a Trent Speckie. Have no idea how he got on two AFL lists. Would have been a premiership player with us as well if he hadnt become sick with Glandular fever.

Leave me mate Gilly alone! There were things he could do on the footy field that no others could (that includes some shots on goal).

Being a North fan, I saw him play many a great game in the SANFL, and he'd have a highlight reel that a lot of players would envy.

He certainly was a shocker in front of goal though.

Should never have played another game for the AFC after that.

Interesting question : does chopping and changing in a rebuild hurt or help? How long do you give somebody before you move them along?

I'm all for looking at new players and finding out what they have - but it needs to be structured and designed to give them maximum opportunity

Previously the AFC have failed at this ie Ben Davis 1 game at Cat Park - or sub vest Grigg etc ie did Jones debut in a Showdown?

Chopping and changing would have to hurt a team in rebuilding. Players need a block of games IMO to show what they can do, but I guess that also depends on what pressure is coming for their position. i.e. Frampton should be dropped this week after having 4 games to show something, anything, but hasn't. But no-one is really banging the selection door down to take his spot (bascially between TT and Himmelberg).

It's also gives a young player some reassurance knowing he will get a few games to perform and not have to star in his first game to hold his spot.

I agree we have failed at this over the years, also by playing players out of their position ie a midfielder in a HFF.

Yes, it's a vastly different sample size. That, I will give you.

As players, it's chalk and cheese - Lockett is a Living Legend, Fogarty is a 4th year kid who can't establish himself in the best 22. But in terms of accuracy alone, Fogarty is in a league all of his own.
You okay there mate?

Why do you have to change a winning team 🙄 No changes next week unless their is injuries. Only change would be Hately coming in at best.

Because we had a half of footy where we didnt score against the worst team in the league.
Plenty of players werent up to standard.

Yep.

The idea is to improve, and give exposure to more of the list who might be able to help us to that.

If we'd won by 14/15 goals then sure throw the "No changes" sign up

Dig a bit deeper than just the goals. What does he provide? He had 5 touch’s, 5. All of them from the hard work of his teammates hitting him up on a lead. So he did absolutely nothing in general play, zero, nada, nothing. Had 1 tackle. He offers nothing Walker isn’t already providing and much more. Would rather another small who can provide defensive pressure and more touch’s in general play, go back to the two tall setup with Tex and Frampton/Berg/TT.

I actually agree with you but Nicks in the press conference couldnt have been more clearer that they were content with his game.

I was at the game and i didnt mind Fogs game in the centre, it was defiantly one of those nearly games. I thought he positioned himself pretty well at CBA for a midfield rookie, and got into good areas that effected Norths CBA effectiveness. A tap or a bounce in his favour and he quickly gains a lot more possession and impact. I reckon give him a few more runs and see if he can build, can always dump him forward of the ball if it doesnt work out during game. A worthwhile experiment to see if we can get him into general play a lot more.

It's a no-win situation.

If Fog comes in as a straight swap, it gets truly ugly. He doesn't have the fitness to do the gut running that Sloane/Lynch do week-in-week-out. He's just not capable of playing that role.

If Fog comes in as a tall forward, and we shuffle a small into the midfield, then he unbalances our forward line - and we lose the structure which has worked so beautifully in his absence. We've proven time & time again, over the last 24 months, that having 3 talls in our forward line doesn't work. Our talls don't provide enough defensive pressure (Tex's recent tackling aside), which allows the opposition to run the ball out of our forward line too easily. It prevents us from getting repeat I50s, and allows them to generate scores from rebounding off their back line.

Either way, it doesn't work. By swapping a running player for a in immobile tall forward, we lose out either way.

I'd rather base team selection on challenging for a flag in 2023, rather then finishing 10th instead of 12th in 2021.
