Out - McKay, Otten

McKay should never have come back in, we all know it.
Otten has been a feel good story in the first part of the season, and the Fremantle game was an adoration. But we can not have a forward line with Jenkins Walker and Otten, with Lynch as well. To big and slow and not enough forward pressure.

In - Wigg, Beech

Yes they both had a down game on the weekend, but you must reward them. Have had a massive year in the 2s. Both deserve a run at the top level, and to prove they deserve a contract for next season.

Back
Talia Lever Hartigan Brown Laird Smith Kelly

Outside
Atkins Cameron Wigg Beech Milera

Walker Jacobs Lynch Jenkins Betts

That is absolutely their job given what we're paying them and the amount of AFL funds they get.
If it's their job then they've got a funny way of showing it.

I tend to agree mind you

Wow we get smashed physically and you want to bring those three in I dont think it really matters unless Richo watched the game and worked out hit us hard and we will crumble

Those three ain't going to help us in that respect

To be fair Riley Knight plays with more intensity than most our guys and we may as well play the other 2

Agreed. Though most of the board will disagree with me on this I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Thommo for the next time we play Geelong or any other tough inside MF team. Sure we will lose some speed and 2 way running but none of that does us any good if we can't get our hands on the pill.
IMO it's worth a shot next time vs Geelong......What's the worst that can happen? We lose to them again? The last thing I want to see next time we play them for us to go in unchanged with the same strategy; it's just rinse and repeat. It's time to wake up Don.
The other 2 changes I'd like to see is Beech and/or maybe Poholke to replace Mackay and maybe Atkins if he doesn't pick his game up.

The worst thing that can happen is that we lose to them again and, with Thommo, have taken a backward step with an old strategy.

But maybe Thommo's farewell will be the next game against Geelong ?

He doesn't have any physicality about him and the other two will get smashed if our opposition coaches are studying us

Knight has a lot of physicality about him and is in the best 3 tacklers at the club (Sloane and Greenwood the other two). Should be an automatic inclusion.

If lever is injured

I would go

Backs
Talia, Haritgan, Otten, Laird, Douglas, Kelly

Ruck
Jacobs

Inside
M.Crouch, B.Crouch, Sloane, Greenwood, Brown

Outside
Atkins, Cameron, Wigg, Smith, Knight

Forwards
Walker, Jenkins, Lynch, Betts, Milera

Out
McKay, Lever (if Injured, if he is not, its either Otten or Hartigan out)

In
Wigg, Knight

Otten should go back to cover lever. Even though he hasn't got a heap of touches in the sanfl, I think Riley Knight will make us alot more balanced with his pressure, and should allow Charlie to push up to the wing more.

In: Knight, Gullucci
Out: Lever, Mackay

we should be playing the rest of the season with a tagger!!, i don't care if its not needed against the lower sides or not. but we need to deploy brown/Kelly on oppositions best mid every week from now on and give them a clear job of what we need from them and KPI... we need to see how this affects our game plan.

I would have knight in for Mackay for sure, but its interesting you note those tacklers and you could include CC in that aswell. But why I find it interesting is I dont rate any of them like Danger and the likes that use their physicall size to intimidate us. Sloane is a gutsy player but has no real physicall presence in terms of intimadation either, he cant rag doll a player he isnt strong enough, Tex can Harto can but in the smaller playesr we have none.

Plyaerrs Like Lews,Hodge, Danger, Zeibel, Viney, SPP, Wines, Jack, Rockliff and a number of others we simply cont have any of that type of playe, we do but he is 45

Exactly right, Marty! Many of us were lamenting this last year, including me and WW. Greenwood has given us a Bont body type, but we need some of the Wines ilk.

Its the whole reason they were hoping they could get a little more out of thommo or he was an insurance policy , but everyone and their dog wanted him gone. Now I know why they wanted him gone but unfortunatly he will needed to be played as we actually have no one else, CEY was maybe one they were looking at but we know where he is.

Every other team is going to be looking at what physical pressure does to our team, how do we counter this physical pressure that is about to hit us, it wont matter as much against the weaker teams

If only we had a first round pick and a big bodied brute was still available when it's our turn to call out a name. You know, someone like SPP...

Lol

It's an interesting argument. The Dogs won the flag last year without any of these really big bodied mids, but I do agree that there's a pattern of us being beaten up by these types in games that really matter. The Dogs make up for their lack of size through pure grit. We don't have enough of that, but Knight is one who I would back in all day to keep hustling when he is fully fit.

We like Basketballers remeber, but unfortunatly Basketball is a non contact sport, tells you a bit that

We obviously have got the balance wrong

Would SSP make the current side before Hampton, CEY, Greenwood, And we do have 1 more big bodied mid up the sleeve in Pohokle. Gallucci was a better option than SSP because we had young inexperienced big bodied Mids sitting in the SANFL waiting.

It might not work either but I'm sick of the "rinse and repeat" against Geelong and other sides that bully us in the MF. We are just not strong enough to compete with those sides. I hope to god that they are already in the ears of player managers to secure the best inside midfielder that we can for next year cause if we bomb out again we're screwed.
