It's about time we brought a second key forward that isn't a statue. Either Maley or Sellers.

Watching opposition defenders just zone off and pick us off like oranges from its tree is actually something we can try and remediate with personal that haven't been tried.

Our selections haven't been inspiring so far.
Yep debut one of them

Need a proper CHF

Interestingly, the last time we started 0-4 heading into Geelong was 1975 Our Maiden Premiership! We also lost to Carlton in Round 3 and the Fitzroy in Round 4.

Thought it was a crazy coincidence.
Are you suggesting the 250-1 on offer for the flag by Sportsbet represents some sort of value? *

*This is not financial advice.

Backhanders aside, Kane is right on this one. Harry needs to be moved up the ground. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. He’s our best player and we need him around the ball. Give Kerch the keys to the back 50 exits.

Been thinking the same; time to explore other positions

That is such an amazing stat

Imagine if BF was around at this time in 1975

Actually dont

Sellers just yes but Maley ? Come on really?
He’s had 1 good game coming off being a suburban part time footballer. I can’t understand the excitement & impatience here?!
RossHenshaw Not sure that I can be put firmly into the excitement & impatience camp after writing "Maley could be an option but it's probably too soon to offer him as another sacrifice to the Footy Gods. The bloodstains from Toby Pink are still visible on the altar."

Sellers is probably the best option available, but the cupboard is practically bare (Chom in defence, CCJ injured and possibly getting a potato variety named after him) which is why the selection of Maley is getting raised at all.

Yep. Our percentage is under 60 (which is a worry) and we're looking along with West Coast like clearly the worst sides (by some distance again). Hawthorn have again been much more competitive than us and showed great fight against Collingwood yesterday and after a bad start against Geelong were quite impressive. Hard to beat a side who kicks as accurately as Geelong did on Easter Monday.

On current form we won't beat Hawthorn. The standards expected upon all members of the playing group are too low. Start dropping senior players instead of repeating the cycle of dropping and rotating the same 3 or 4 players all season long.
Hawthorn seem to be growing into the season, just as they did last year, whereas we are going in the opposite direction. Having lost confidence, everything we worked for in the offseason which was actually visible early on, is no longer there. If we don't arrest the slide quickly, it will be a carbon copy of 2023.

When was the last time we had an upset win to the magnitude of what a win this Sunday would be?

St Kilda in 2009?
From memory that win against St Kilda didn't cost them anything, as their position on the ladder was secure. The Geelong game would be even more of an upset. But it has zero chance of happening

I would almost say that we are NO chance to get within 5 goals

The AFL's 'Five Paths of Pain' fixture design for our season opening has been a resounding success. Pre-season confidence = dead.

They did give us a chance with the Freo game but we proceeded to waste it

We were every chance that game, definitely, but Freo do look really good so far. They ground Carlton's offence to a halt. No longer surprised that they had the composure to overcome our fiery start.

Yeah I agree
Sadly win is likely a formality for Geelong.

Hawks game is the one I'm looking forward to (nervously)

The Hawks game looked like a likely win leading into the season and after the first 2 rounds. But right at the moment even that game looks unlikely for us...

B: Tucker Comben McDonald
HB: Fisher Dawson Stephenson

C: McKercher Sheezel Scott

HF: Ford Sellers Simpkin
F: Duursma Larkey Curtis

R: Xerri Davies-Uniacke Powell

I: Greenwood Wardlaw Zurhaar Shiels

S: Lazzaro

Key matchups:

1) Tucker v Myers: Massive matchup which requires Tucker to curb Myers influence and punish him going the other way.

2) Dawson v Cameron: While Cameron has tonnes of strengths, his ability to range up the ground is something I think Kaplan can focus on for his personally development.

3) Ford v Stewart: Like what Ford has done with Lever in the past, he needs to help shut down Stewart’s impact on Larkey and threaten going the other way.

4) Xerri vs Stanley: Xerri should mail him in the contest. He needs to make sure this translates into midfield supremacy.
