Out: Stephenson, Stephens
In: Phillips, Sellers

FB: Corr - KDawson - McDonald
HB: Sheezel - Comben - Fisher
C: McKercher - Wardlaw - Scott
HF: Zurhaar - Sellers - Simpkin
FF: Curtis - Larkey - Duursma
R: Xerri - Davies-Uniacke - Powell
I: Ford - Greenwood - Shiels - Phillips
S: Tucker

McKercher up to a wing. Looked far and away our most dangerous midfielder when he got on his bike and started charging through the corridor.

Stephens out. Useless on a skinny ground. Even more useless when he goes ultracat mode.

Stephenson out. Has had enough chances. Doesn't get enough of the footy and doesn't do enough with it when he does get it. Fully aware this may f*** with his confidence but it's time. Out.

Tucker to sub. Another not doing enough. A better, fitter option for sub than Shiels. Shiels in to tag Bruhn or Holmes, if he isn't playing a full game then he's useless.

With a full list to pick from this would be the last chance for Corr and McDonald. Corr just isn't having an impact either defensively or offensively. McDonald isn't doing or providing the only thing that is keeping him in the team (leading). If Goater were fit, McDonald would be out. If Pink weren't bad, Corr might be in. If Corr gets annihilated again I would replace him with Pink to send a message that you can be on a fat FA contract but if you're not doing your job you can be replaced by the Glenelg fullback.

Phillips has to be in. We do not have enough midfielders that run both ways. And currently we are not doing enough at clearance. LDU doesn't run defensively or is too cooked from trying to carry the team offensively to stay with his man. Wardlaw is doing his utmost but we need someone else at the coalface. Phillips might waddle around but he is a facilitator and tackles. Straight in. It's time.

Every time I saw Curtis or Duursma or Ford or Stephenson get outmarked by genuine gorilla fullbacks in Andrews or Payne, a part of me died. We cannot let Stewart run around taking intercept marks on half forward flankers and third talls. Sellers may or may not be ready, but he is tall enough and if we can get in top in the midfield, maybe he can play enough of a foil to Larkey to stop Souv getting gang banged 25 metres from goal.

this is spot on the money

this is spot on the money
I like this team
Medium term we need to find a replacement/improvement on
McDonald
Stephenson
Stevens

Rewatching the game today Comben 2nd half gives us a glimpse and looking at last weeks 2s Dawson , maley and sellars all have points of difference.

Composure around the ball from our two faves in LDU and George really hurt yesterday

Get Scott back on a wing and keep him there, play mckercher closer to the middle more often

Call me stupid, but I still feel when it clicks it’s going to click hard and fast

IN: Sellers & Phillips. Also in: a few pints if recent games at GBH park are any indicator.
OUT: Stephens & Tucker. Sleevo well in the mix here, as is Corr but I'm guessing they won't pull the trigger yet.

Maley could be an option but it's probably too soon to offer him as another sacrifice to the Footy Gods. The bloodstains from Toby Pink are still visible on the altar.
Scott and McKercher to the wings. Simpkin to spend more time as a mid with time as a HF or even as part of the wing rotation.

Sellers just yes but Maley ? Come on really?
He’s had 1 good game coming off being a suburban part time footballer. I can’t understand the excitement & impatience here?!

I think it will be between Sellers and Phillips for spots as well, but I'm a bit more supportive of Tucker - he plays a structural role not a disposal one; gained most metres after Sheezel, 5 score involvements, disposal efficiency was pretty good.

Stephens yes, but I don't think Tucker will go out with him

It wasn’t just a good game, he was sensational. It was the most exciting performance from a player in the VFL for as long as I can remember. I agree that he should spend a little longer in the VFL but you can’t blame supporters for being impatient considering how shitful we’ve been.

Yep, it wouldn’t surprise me if they just chop one of Stephens & Tucker. Most likely the former.
I kind of see Tucker as a pseudo wing version of Kayne Turner. Good trainer, carries out a tactical positional role but who will inevitably become a whipping boy.

I also notice Stephenson only played 68% game time, so it may be the coaches box is running out of patience with Jaidyn

Tucker is fine. Of all of our middling “senior” players he consistently has a dip and puts his body on the line. Generally uses it ok. Stephens has been very disappointing, too soft even for a wing. Fisher pretty meh too, albeit he’s looked lively and involved at times. We really needed more from Stephens though, wing can be a thankless role but he just hasn’t played it well enough imo.

Swing the Axe Clarko! No more kiddy gloves with these senior players.

  • Drop the Co-Captains who couldn't lead a Frenchman to a Brothel
  • Play McKercher, Scott, Greenwood etc in their right positions
  • Bring in either Maley or Sellers, Larkey clearly needs help
  • Corr, Stephenson, Stephens, Fisher, Tucker can GAGF, bunch of mercenaries who are just here for a salary!
I think fisher has been ok . The rest CGAGF . Play both sellers and Mayley . I reckon Mayley can go in the back line . Sort of reminds me of the Bont .

Our first five opponents, Brisbane, Carlton, Geelong, Fremantle, and GWS, have only lost one game combined this year to a team outside of that group.

Horrific scheduling by the AFL. Especially considering we only get home ground advantage once in that stretch.

You wait and see us come home with a wet sail in the back half of the year :wet sail look

A personal irritation to me is kick in's taken by Scott, Corr, and Fisher, and LMac, they all lack the skill set to do it successfully regularly, if at all.
Surely it isn't that difficult. Last year we had a first year player who'd never played in defence doing it on a regular basis and he went pretty well most of the time hitting a teammate on or outside the 50. Should be a cakewalk for these more experienced blokes.
