Why would a broken jaw stop him from running? I presume he would be smashing as much non contact fitness as possible into him

Running around with a broken jaw would cause stress at the point of the injury.
Swimming he could do comfortably and weights. Standing still ball reflexes.
Because it would hurt like an absolute bitch and it's hard to breathe with a swollen face.

He is definitely slow, definitely old, but he was brilliant last night. He looks like he is going to choke and stuff up but he doesnt.
For me, he is and will be one of our greatest defenders for us if not the greatest. Although Caven on Carey and Pittman on Loewe in GFs count big time.

The most important change for next week is no change. Its important to stay focused and play with the same intensity, do not get carried away after the great win last night and show up thinking you are going to win easily. No game is easy.
CC was good........actually better than good.

Anyone that boos or has harsh words against him, for all he brought to Carlton, should be escorted out of the ground by other Carlton supporters.
Terrific guy and character around the club for many years............why should that change just because he's playing for another club?
Having said that though we don't exactly want him to be the match-winner either. That's fair enough......No?

Absolutely... Just interested to hear what the thoughts are.... I would expect him to be boo'd.
I agree - but I'd go the SANFL route. Playing as sub won't help him get his touch back. Put him in the SANFL, let him get back to form and carve up there for a bit, and demand his spot back.
Grigg/Lyons are both banging the door down - don't carry an out of form player at their expense.

Would've thought Blues fans would view Betts like we view Bernie. Both I think had read the writing on the wall and would have loved to stay. It was pretty obvious Malthouse only had plans for 2 of your trio, and Eddie being the older one was eventually going to lose out to Yarran and Garlett. Bernie was our sacrificial lamb.
