Travaglia with 15 disposals, 5 tackles and 5 intercept possessions for Carlton VFL today.
Was a very defensive minded effort from Tobie. Unfortunately he was frequently burnt by teammates who seemed to prefer to bomb to their Geelong opponents than use him.
Tobie appeared to spend much of the fourth quarter on the bench when the game was there to be won.
Still his running patterns were exceptional and he is constantly making himself available as an overlap option. He also fumbled less than the majority of the VFL players and was very good with his handballing to teammates.
Maybe didn't get the weight of disposals but was down back without any midfield minutes and played a very good team-oriented game.

If we were to get a player instead of a F2 thatd be awesome.

Ward clearly isnt part of their best 22, hed be ideal. Probably a little undersized as an inside mid but the Hawks have no need for him. I think hes in the same areas as Chesser where hes been stuck playing a role hes not really suited to out on a wing.

What about Reeves? He played very well covering the Hawks ruck last year, is 210cm tall and aged 25. Probably suffered and fell back behind Meek this year due to the ruck rule changes, but still would be a solid pick and would allow us to offload BWilliams for pick 40ish.

Not much else there I think the Hawks would be willing to part with who is worth noticably more than a F2

Sheldrick 36 Ds in the ressie tonight. Pyke would have a fair evaluation of him. Hard to see where he plays for the Swans in the AFL.

Would love him next year but he would have to push it.

The other option with the Barrass to Hawthorn trade re the F2/player component is to find a third club that would take Hawthorn’s F2 for a player we’re interested in

So maybe Garcia from the Bulldogs as an example
All of the above is the thinking I like. Quality draft picks should absolutely be our priority but we should also be scouring every list for guys in the 20-25 age bracket who have shown a bit but not getting a clear run at it.

Especially former top picks (not you DGB) like Ward, Sheldrick, Buss and plenty of others mentioned in positions of need for us. If we can pull those multiple levers of draft picks and some value needs picks plus the odd FA then we start to look more competitive for the future.

Flyin for a 2R doesn’t sound amazing but as someone mentioned, if it ends up being essentially Flyin for Baker who is slightly younger then it could be okay. Flyin is awesome at his best but I could see a steep decline at 28 with questionable training standards and injury concerns.

Maybe Cripps stays on for a year while we assess the best of Brockman, Long, Dewar and Champion.

Need a pick along with Sinn

Sinn was a first round pick and had some niggles early. Finally fit this year and getting games, just not every week. Shown he is up to it.

Type we need and perfect age, if a pick is added its only a 3rd.

IMO I think Ryan is cruising and if he stays with us for the remainder of his career we will get a highlight or two but thats about it.

If he went elsewhere who was contending he might get a bit of a lift and acheive a bit more. Especially with all the changes going on.

Sinn isnt best 22, and I suspect the Houston trade talk is mostly because Perryman and Cumming are looking good to go to Port, so Sinn isnt getting closer to a game

Id ask for a pick along with Sinn
