A depressing change of tone given the greatness of last night but with the standout rookie players on display last night it did get me thinking. Id go with

Delist

Matthew Spangher
Beau Wilkes

Will Sullivan
Callum Wilson
Adam Cockie

Trade

Ben McKinley

Veteran list

Darren Glass
Andrew Embley

Promote

Lewis Stevenson * (must promote or lose to draft)

Would give us 4 draft picks in the draft and 2 in the rookie draft. 6 rookies overall instead of the 8 because of the 2 vet listed players with Hams JON, Strjik and Broome retained. Hams can be promoted in round 1 without any long term injury due to rule changes

Lynch is a required player.

It was all just role mis understanding at the beginning which stuffed things up.

He aint gonna stay in the square for no body.

Also he can play as a back up ruck very well in case of injuries/

he has demonstrated how good he is in the last 2 games.

Im being reasonable. Woosha will keep Lynch around now his forms improved. Hansen has no value and is a good clubman so will stay.

We could buy out Nicoskis contract but otherwise no one is trading for him. Could buy out Bones contract too but I think thatd be harsh on him. He may be someone a club wants to top up with

Trade
McKinley
Spangher
Butler

Delist
Wilkes
Cockie
Notte(redraft as rookie)
Wilson

Promote
Hams
Stevenson
Strijk *see how he goes in the remainder of the year.

Would also like to delist Hansen and Nicoski if they werent contracted.

No mention of Hansen, Brett Jones or Nicoski?

Sullivan is needed to cover for injury so unless we can spot a ruckman in the draft we like then he will be kept.

No reason to promote Hams.

Keeping JON is a waste of a spot.

I wouldn't delist Cockie, at least not before JON. Cockie has yet to do a full AFL preseason and I am curious to see what he is like when he is fit and had a good run at it.

We would be better off rookie drafting someone else who isnt Will Sullivan to fill the 4th ruckman spot.

No reason to promote Hams is right and I feel thats the way the club will go being allowed to promote a rookie at Round 1 with no injuries. Itd be nice to see him get it though as he deserves it

2011 is the year our list clears out. Alot of players out of contract then. 2010 we have 5 players out of contract in total and two of them re-signed with the club so that leaves 3 (Spangher, Wilkes, McKinley)

Good luck to redrafting Notte on the rookie list. Someone will pick him up before then, I'm sure.

Delist/Retire: Lynch, Hansen, Nicoski, Wilkes (?)

Keep Wilkes and Brett Jones for depth? No?

A little thing called a contract called. Wants to know why you havnt heard of him

Bewildered after Lynchs game last night people still want him gone. Hes gonna stay for now. Deal with it. If Ham was to stay on the rookie list I guess we can sign Notte up for a 2 year deal and still go with 4 and 3

Should also mention based on this post we would be using pick 100+ in the draft. Think id prefer to keep Lynch honestly. Reason we have so few players available for delisting is because we have 2 veteran listed players now in Glass and Embley. Frees up 2 spaces on the main list for free which we automatically lose in the rookie stakes through Stevenson and Sullivan (must promote or delist)

The likes of Nicoski, Hansen will be gone come season 2011. No need to rush them out now when we need them for next year (creating list space wise). If we get rid of them now we will be put into the situation of having to delist Weedon, Neates and co which would be a bit harsh

Its doubly dumb because essentially while delisting Lynch your also choosing to promote in 2011 the services of pick 70 odd 2010 draft ahead of Gerrick Weedon, Koby Stevens etc who will then go into the firing line because of the bad contract situation they find themselves in

Just pay out the contracts. Ask them politely to retire.

We cant do that every year now can we otherwise well we would have a shit list all the time to create room for that Who do we delist next year then?

Adam Selwood – Signed a 3-year deal (2009, 2010, 2011) in June 2008.
Ashley Smith - Believed to have signed a 3-year contract (2009, 2010, 2011) when drafted.
Beau Waters – Signed a 3-year deal (2009, 2010, 2011) in March 2008.
Brad Ebert - Signed a 2-year contract extension (2010, 2011) on top of his 2 year rookie contract, in June 2009.
Brad Sheppard - Believed to have signed a 2-year contract (2010, 2011) when drafted.
Dean Cox - Signed a 4-year deal (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) in February 2008.
Eric Mackenzie - Signed 2-year contract (2010, 2011) a contract in June 2009.
Gerrick Weedon - Believed to have signed a 2-year contract (2010, 2011) when drafted.
Jordan Jones - Believed to have signed a 3-year contract (2009, 2010, 2011) when drafted.
Koby Stevens - Believed to have signed a 2-year contract (2010, 2011) when drafted.
Luke Shuey - Believed to have signed a 3-year contract (2009, 2010, 2011) when drafted.
Matt Priddis – Signed a 2-year deal (2010, 2011) in August 2009.
Mitchell Brown - Signed a 2-year contract (2010, 2011) in June 2009.
Nicholas Naitanui - Believed to have signed a 1-year contract extension on top of 2 year rookie contract (2009, 2010, 2011) in June 2009.
Ryan Neates - Believed to have signed a 2-year contract (2010, 2011) when drafted.
Shannon Hurn – Signed a 3-year deal (2009, 2010, 2011) in April 2008.
Tim Houlihan - Signed a 2-year contract (2010, 2011) in September 2009.

Assuming youd also want to promote Hams the following year cos we have too 4 of those would have to go

Houlihan, Neates, J.Jones and Weedon would be my choices. Now who would you rather. Those 4 or Pick 70 odd in the 2010 draft....

Veterans - Glass, Embley
De-List/Trade - Spangher, Wilkes
De-List Rookie - Cockie, Sullivan, Wilson
Rookie Upgrade - Stevenson

So that would leave us with 3 picks in the ND and 2 rookie picks, pretty easy conclusion.

Also, i think we have to either promote Sullivan and Wilson or delist them anyway... we had them on extended one year contracts didnt we. The time on our list may be over for Wilson but there is a chance we may re rookie Sullivan.

Not 100% sure we can re rookie either of them. 3 years is all you get, Move along I think

Would that be the nominated rookie upgrade at the start of the season or permanent move to the senior list?
Nah he'd have to move up to the senior list. Hes in his third and final year as a rookie and if we tried to re-rookie him through the draft we'd lose him in a heartbeat I reckon. Needs to be put on the senior list.

Ah, I see.

The nominated rookie upgrade would then be probably out of Hams/Strijk (unless JON can make a solid case).

I don't know what you mean by these because when you're drafted you only ever get a 2 year deal. Doesn't matter if you're the number 1 pick or the last bloke in the rookie draft.

Nah thats the minimum. Your always allowed to offer longer. Eagles offered all our draftees from 2008 3 year deals to keep them out of Gold Coasts grasp. Quite a few other clubs did this too
