Delisting/list changes for 2010

You sure? I read the AFLPA CBA last year for uni and it said 2 year deals for rookies.

Rookie listed players MUST sign 2 year deals yes but those drafted in the actual draft are different and the club can offer them contracts for above 2 years if they like. Carlton did it with Kruezer dont ya remember. Was news at the time

Definitely some good thoughts in this thread and some tough decisions to be made by the club come seasons end. They just must get them right though. Would like to see Hams continue strongly this year and have him on the senior list next season too. Showed a lot of promise last night.

I actually think we have no tough decisions to make Makka hence the brilliance of our list management over the years. Apart from what to do with McKinley and Hams the rest is filled with obvious choices and also choices we have complete control over.

No one is gonna do the dodge and leave us for Gold Coast because everyone with value is contracted. Spangher is a easy delist decision. As easy as it gets. Wilkes fits the same boat. Dont even offer experience. McKinley is one we also have control over because if he does leave the club he will still hold trade value and will probably be traded for a pick upgrade.

When Gold Coast start signing players up for free our good list management will shine even more

Two weeks ago some wanted Embley and both Selwoods gone. Are they all back on the christmas card list after a couple of good games? I've always wanted to keep Embley but some of you guys have gotta look past a few bad games before hanging players. I'm up for trading Mckinley and a pick for a better pick or player.
On a separate note I have sat through every miserable game this year and the two I've missed were both against Essendon. Can't believe I missed the Lecras show yesterday.

Oh true, fair point.

Try and get Embley to retire.

Replay is on Fox on Tuesday @ 12:30pm.

Thanks but I'm over in Ireland. Had a look at the Lecras goals on YouTube which was nice. I hope I don't start getting supersticious and turn into one of those people who believes if they watch the game the team will lose.
I worked with a girl who was dead serious about that as a Dockers supporter.

Could be worth a shot?

Re-signing Hansen and Nicoski for longer than 1 season was terrible list management.

Why? We dont need to delist anyone in 2010 because we have 2 veteran list additions so 2011 was right for everyone really. Hansen and Nicoski will be vital for 2011 in providing list space for next year. As I said unless you want to delist Weedon, Houlihan, Neates and co we have to keep these guys around. If we delisted the players you want we would be picking players with pick 100+ which is just a waste of time

We may want to delist the likes of Houlihan, Neates, Weedon, Notte, McGinnity, Hams, Jordan Jones, Butler etc in 2011, who knows, that's another season away.

Your reasoning that we have made a smart move signing 2 hacks for longer than we should have so we have someone to delist in 2011 is absolute balls.

The ONLY thing that would save those 2 this year is the fact that they signed them for too long. It wasn't a clever piece of list management.

Ah, I see.

The nominated rookie upgrade would then be probably out of Hams/Strijk (unless JON can make a solid case).

Assuming we have two veteran listed players (out of Glass, Cox and Embley) then we won't get to nominate a rookie, at least until mid-season.

Rule changed from this year onwards. If we had 3 vet listed players we wouldnt be allowed a rookie but cos we only have 2 we are allowed 1. Thats how I read it anyway

You would want to delist Neates, Weedon after 2 years. Butler/McGinnity are contracted til 2012. Unless Ham breaks every bone on his body hes eventually gonna be promoted to the main list. Thats just plainly obvious.

Notte wont sign a 1 year contract with us. No one will or ever would sign a 1 year contract anywhere ever unless they are 30+. If we want to delist the likes of Houlihan/JoJo we can use a later pick next year as opposed to this year. Wouldnt make any difference

signing hansen and nicoski for an extra year was stuipidity at its finest. without them we couldve got two young players and given them a shot as they were a chance. the other 2 time and time again have had more chances than anyone yet still perform horrendously.

lynch in hindsight was ok until we signed natanui and requested him to go back to ff. if lynch doesnt go back to ff and perform when the PROPER midfield players like kerr, shuey, butler, etc all come back in will sign off his career horribly. i dont understand the club hierachy dropping lynch at the beginning of the season for not playing ff and then bringing him back in and allowing him to go back to the wing position. in the short term yes ok that needs to be done due to injuries but in the long term as soon as the players mentioned above as well as stevens and houlihan coming back in it would put him out of place.

Why are people so desperate for us to use 4th and 5th rounders for? Personally would prefer Hansen on a 1 year deal than a 5th round pick on a 2 year deal. Hansen Nicoski Lynch Bones are our delistees for next year and it gives us a chance to have a closer look at project players like Weedon, Neates and Notte I guess. No harm done

why weedon and neates are being linked with notte I have no idea ,Notte no he has had plenty of time to develop and if we delist him it will be long overdue if he gets picked up in the draft than good luck to him.

Suma radio interview on ABC , Saturday mornings spoke about trading / Drafting and was asked about Notte -- Suma indicated the only factor in Notte's favour is his youth . Suma also indicated the club is still looking at possibly trading First and Second round draft picks for WA players returning with 2-4 years experience . The club is canvassing players in that situation !

Delist

Hansen / Jones / Spangher / Notte ? / Cockie

Trade

McKinley

Tough to know who goes , some players may seek a trade plus a player may go to the Gold Coast !

Its the basic +2 rule isnt it for the old project KPP. Id rookie him and promote Hams personally but cant see it happening.
