Anyone catch the last question of Nicks's press conference? He said something along the lines of "I don't want to be a controversial coach and I don't want to end up in those types of conversations but we all have two eyes" and then it cut out..... What was he referring to?

He was asked about players flopping when tackled to draw a dangerous tackle free

That says more about west coast than us. Let's not get carried away beating an inexperienced WAFL side with a few AFL players in it. Let's see how we bounce back against Collingwood on the MCG.
It's hard enough to kick 20 goals in a game, let alone win by that margin.
Good sides beat up on (and sometimes crush) bad sides, which is what the Crows did.

They played well. Started well, kept it up, did not slow down after half-time and kicked away.
It was a very good, very authoritative and necessary (%-boosting) win.
BIG learning game for our younger players on sustaining and increasing an advantage, whereas a week ago they gave up a 35-point lead and allowed a 9-goal run against them.

I was hoping for a 6-8 goal win. 10 would've been good. 15, yessssss, WOW!
The thrashing, the scoreline, 11 goalkickers, Tex's 10 goals all exceeded my expectations.

Tex might not be the greatest Crow of all time, but he’s the most loveable Crow of all time. That includes his ability, his personality, his character and his loyalty.

Only the Adelaide board’s biggest knobs will disagree with this.
Tex top 5 best crows I would say.
McLeod
Roo
JarmanD
Goodwin
Walker

Hart and Edwards unlucky but Jarman was a matchwinner on the big stage and did it at two clubs

It was a good effort but putting it into context hawthorn just beat west coast in WA by 116points. It seemed to me that west coast have gone the tank which is not what you want to see. I think Simpson may be in trouble.

It was a good effort ...
Fair concession, kudos.
but putting it into context hawthorn just beat west coast in WA by 116points.
... and the Hawks followed that up by beating Brisbane today (so did we, 2 weeks ago). We only just beat them away in Launceston so the 2 teams' wins vs. WCE are comparable.

Definitely food for thought.
Bit early to tank, plus their many injuries are very real.
As for Simpson, yeah, 1-12 looks bad and they're losing big.

Last round of 2018 vs Carlton. Dead rubber against the spooners.
That game we even had to take the foot off the pedal because we didn't want to jump Essendon on percentage. We had Jake Kelly playing up forward.

Great player but not top 5. Biggest crowd puller most likely.
Depends what your criteria is. I always have him top 5 in terms of talent and impact.

Similar talent level to Ablett snr, but inferior resume. He started late, had a lot of injuries and played in mostly shithouse Adelaide sides.

In the two full seasons he played where we actually made finals he kicked 219 goals.

In a footy world fascinated with player movement and individualism, with blokes regularly ending up playing for two or three clubs, Tex is someone altogether different. He's a real club man, and the late great Phil Walsh saw that immediately. It was a game of individual celebration for a team man.

I remember asking a group of football fans who was the most influential player in a GF and they all said Jarman 1997. To a fan they all thought that was an incredibly dominant performance...and when you think about it, game in the balance, GF, star player kicks five in a quarter...

He was a special player

... but you take a 10 goal Tex & biggest AFL score in 7 years every time!
The highest AFL score in 7 years? That's quite special.

Has anyone noticed that the Crows have a club tradition of being an attacking side? It seems that whenever we're up an about, we have tended towards scoring, with forwards like Modra, Tex, Betts, and Rankine. I'd rather have more than two premierships. But I'd rather be an exciting club with two flags than a boring club with two flags.

Jordan Butts was solid today. Albeit against no competition found plenty of the ball (18 touches) and had some dare and run from half back. Thought he played better when Murray went off the ground, even found himself getting a handball receive in the middle of the ground as well. Looks to be building after a slow start to the year.
Just on Butts .....he looks so much better with space around him at CHB ....rather than playing deep def at FB, and dealing with the big bulls / packs

Still think we will atruggle for the top 8. Our away games include Collingwood, Melbourne, Brisbane and Essendon. And we have port at home.

5 and 5 won’t get us a finals spot. Not in a 23 game season.
I think it will come down to the Essendon game, if we win that we make finals. If we drop that the Bombers likely take our spot.
