I'd feel a lot more guilty if we didn't dominate 75% of the match. It was criminal we were only 5 points up at half time. It was absolutely HTB though. You need to make a genuine attempt to get rid of the ball in a situation like that.

Very relieved. We were an umpire bottling it away from ANOTHER loss after the siren. That would've been 3 in like 30 games.

Draper seriously needs to be pulled in. Nearly cost us the game not to mention the 50 metre penalty that swung the momentum.
Yeah, 2MP back… Goldie playing Anzac Day. Jones a lock. Don’t think Coach is a reactive guy, but should Draper make way?

Jones playing so well allows Wright to play more back up ruck. Goldy needs the help and we’ve never had a half decent tall next to 2mp to allow him to chop out in the ruck

i'll bang on about the umpiring calls and the tally/count but it's the context of those free kicks which are important to remember. if you're giving away 15 free kicks in a game, but 12 of them are inside the f50, that's the trouble, if they're all over the ground, it's annoying, sure, but it's not the end of the world, right?

Draper was already falling before the ball went under him not once did his hand touch the ball … did he hope the ball would get stuck under him probably
Before the ball was stuck under Draper Texs hand grabs the ball and pushes it under Draper then he lands on Draper’s back and his other arm comes around Draper to stop the ball getting out the other side

This was it.

F50 frees that were 50/50’s:
  • Crows got 2 goals
  • Crows denied 1 goal (IF you think they should have had one at the last)
  • Essendon denied 2 goals

By my count, that’s Crows getting gifted 3 goals…

I'd drop Draper. If not now when? He needs a kick up the ass. Can't see Goldstein playing next year, meaning Draper will get a game regardless of his performance. Iron is undisciplined acts out now.

Played a genuinely front half game. Maybe our first ever.

Set-up, structure was really good again as we never really lost control of the match (5 min in the 3/4 aside).

Loved the intensity in the middle.
It started from the second half vs Bulldogs and carried on this week.

Genuinely some of the best defensive structure I've seen from an Essendon side in the last 20 years. I think we only allowed Adelaide 27 inside 50s for the first 3 quarters. That's almost unheard of from an Essendon side.

Durham and Caldwell had a lot to do with why we were competitive. I worry if they will sustain it, but I'll take it while it lasts as it sets a standard. Real finals footy-type intensity and ground defence tonight. Didn't allow Adelaide many clean disposals.

rewatching the final 2 minutes, it's really funny how much they tried to get a free kick in that time. taylor walker throwing his head back in a desperate attempt\

edit: he also dragged the ball in under draper right at the end lol
