This season not about wins and losses but expect a better performance than that. Smashed in all areas including the umpiring.

Miller made Waterman look like an All Australian, looks out his depth at AFL Level. Dow is not even a B grade mid
Kmac past his peak, now a plodder. After the bye Balta, Hopper or Prestia could be available

Out Dow, Kmac, Miller, Kosi
In Hopper/Prestia, Banks. Grimes, Balta
From what I saw….Young was on waterman for the time he did damage…miller moved on to him later to stem the blood flow

Happy to be corrected

Considering his age and what he’s given, If I hear anyone knocking Dusty in any way shape or form I’ll deadset loose it

Every other team bar ours and Melbourne have had a bye and we have had to travel two weeks in a row

You can be frustrated but it’s also a factor that needs to be taken into consideration
We traveled to the Gold Coast, 5 day break to face Carlton, then faced Port Sydney & the Saints who were all top 8 sides last year. As tough a start to the season as any team has had, coupled with an extraordinary injury list and it's little wonder we hit the wall leading into the early bye.

Right so play the kids obviously but things are never quite as bad as you think.

Young and Miller have been incredible since really the Port game in Round 2. They deserve a Mulligan. Miller in particular. Neither thought this was their lot this year.

Found a real goer in Lefau. Love seeing his improvement week on week.

Loved how Sethy Campbell bounced back after a poor week v Saints, I thought he had some good moments.

Rioli Jnr and Mansell had a real crack. There's a forward line in there somewhere once we get half the list back.

Ins and outs for the Dees are going to be tough with a limited number to pick from, but with the intercepting prowess and height at Melbourne would lose a small for a tall.

We also desperately need Sonsie to be able to play middle. Needs some twos time to get his hands on it for mine.

In: Kaleb Smith (debut), Samson Ryan, Dylan Grimes
Out: Jayden Short (if he's sore), Tyler Sonsie, Hugo Ralphsmith
Sub: Kaleb Smith

Don’t like losing but I’m not gutted by it

Young players need leaders to stand up and show them how

Of our senior players Shai did this, bakes did this, Vlas did this and Nank did this

Other senior players were inconsistent

Not the end of the world

Need to find the balance between experienced players that contribute for the whole game with young players that bust their nuts ( even if they Fuq up from time to time)
Lefau does this, Seth does this, Mansell does this

His first year in the 2s before we rookied him
He was second ruck full forward
Was a beautiful set shot for goal
Kozi was full back in the u-18s team of the year,,,the year he was drafted
This is the ideal opportunity to make a high risk call. However when you consider that both players were playing today and both were being beaten yet the coaches did nothing; do you really think they will be brave enough to make this happen

Out - Performance / Fitness Manager - Judson Clarke ACL - Should Brendon Gale be reviewing the role of Richmonds Performance / Fitness Coach - is there something wrong with the Preseason Fitness Program - Judson Clarke is the last straw ! Level of injuries highlights that the conditioning of players is in serious doubt !
That’s also on the medical team who sent him back on. They’re both incompetent

Young wouldn’t be getting a game if all our talls were fit. Panic merchant and unsettles the rest of the BL. Nankervis was lazy today though not going down to assist.

Not pretty, but I’m not surprised. It is what it is. The bye is finally here and we’ll probably get smashed by Melbourne, but we’ll hopefully have people return from round 7 onwards. Just got to get through the next few weeks.

When we traded Hardwick to the Gold Coast, I thought I’d heard the last of that phrase 🤷‍♂️

Miller only played on Waterman the last part of the game

It was Young who made him look like Wayne Carey
Young is not up to it.
Miller could be all Australian by the end of next season .
What’s most frustrating is we are going through a rebuild and our young stocks have been depleted by blokes who we gave all bar the kitchen sink and realistically both lack the skills for the current and future of the game .

We desperately need quality on ballers. Prestia is cooked, Cotchin gone and we were always lacking in this dept anyway. Taranto and Hopper are not the answer. Hopefully Mcauliffe steps up.

With Lynch, Lefau and Balta in attack, and with Bolton and Dusty too, we have the most formidable attack in the league.
Mansell is good, and Brown showing promise as a defender and good user of the footy. Young and Miller will be ok with a very good key position full back to assist them.

We are a few astute list management and recruiting decisions away from a decent team.

You don’t trade in Hopper and Taranto when you have an ageing team. Anyone thinking this have rocks in their heads. You bank your early picks and build a team like we did when we bottomed out and got Jack, Cotchin, Rance, Dusty , Sheds and co.
We made the ultimate sins off the past by not bottoming out and we finished around ninth or so. Wallet got it right believe or not whereas Dimma didn’t bc he was impatient and adamant our list would still perform.

Hopper and Taranto aren't the answer? Huh?

Guys in their mid 20s who have proven they can play at AA level midfields and are contracted with us for 6 more years are exactly the answer.

How are they bad calls when we've literally seen today what our midfield would've looked like if we didn't have even 1 of them playing for us?

I would've thought that of all performances and games, today's performance showed us the necessity of getting them in?

Great post . Thanks for being pragmatic.

When those trades were made, we looked like we were just off being a genuinely top team. We hadn't lost a game by more than a goal after Round 6 in 2022. We lost multiple games due to poor decision making.

Taking that same team and adding Taranto and Hopper to cover our weakest area was a fine gamble to take. Youve got a once in a lifetime team so of course you are gambling for one more.

It didn't pay off, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a worthwhile risk to take. Absolute revisionist history to act like he was never any chance of paying off.

Nope we were declining and it was poor list management, just gross incompetence . That’s why Dimma left the Titanic.
