Today was story of our year. Not good enough against the top 4-5 teams, tried but can’t go the 4 quarters. Cotch and Jack are cooked and will retire, reckon Grimes would be gone also if they held off on offering another year, can’t be captain next year as unlikely in best 22. Desperately miss Lynch, need to see some games put into Bauer and Brown now.

Something that stuck out is that our midfield is still ordinary. Taranto and Hopper are not enough. Is the problem strength/fitness, is it personnel, or is it both? I think it’s a mix of both.

I really don’t know what we should do about it in the off-season because our current VFL midfielders are probably not going to bridge the gap in the next two weeks. We don’t really have any explosive and strong-bodies midfielders among them. The difficult thing is that our forward line needs attention first, so we may need to wait until the following off-season before we can address this.

Cant fit a guy who kick 6 in vfl last week into this stellar forwardline?
Our offense is nearly 100% reliant on individual pieces of brilliance. We haven't got a single player in our forward half that can take a contested grab outside of JR and he's going at about 30%.

Not angry just disappointed

Had some fantastic highs in that game it’s a shame we shit the bed on the last & on multiple fronts
Coaching and players all share the blame in that one

We gave it our all ......this game was turned on its head with that 3 mins of just diabolical umpiring when we were 20 points up ......after that it was s no lube job .....I hate blaming umpires but AFL have destroyed this game with farcical rule changes and interpretations that has 4 umpires having different opinions on what a free kick is .......it's so frustrating to watch...and I mean all games not just ours ......I'm proud of the boys today .....but the arse sucking of the AFL from commentators and the media is putrid......just ask Mick Warner ......anyway that's my take !

They've clearly made Hopper slim down and become more outside. He's not that player. Needs to get to GWS size and get back to being a ball winning beast.

Jack Graham 17 of the least damaging possessions in afl history. And going 52% DE.

12.5 to 4.1 after we got out to a 20 point lead the 1st time.
I was so pissed off at the umpires today but I don't expect anything different, started with 50 metre penalties then went to bullshit holding the ball free kicks. To the dickhead commentators on top I had to turn the sound off and stew in my own vomit.
AFL can get ****ed.

The result makes it seem more doom and gloom then what it is. Petty and Melksham are shit players who kicked accurately, Van Rooyan is also a good youngster who kicked well. For the larger part of the game we were playing great footy. When petty kicked at the end we were clearly demoralized at how easy they were scoring from entries i50. If Taranto could evade space and kick he would be the best player in the comp too

Melbourne were very good.
We had no answer to Gawn and I dont think we have one on our list. When he gets up and going he feels impossible to stop.

When picking the best 5, I thought it would be easy. But after, Soldo, Martin, Bolton and Pickett it was tough to find the next best.
I couldn't give the backline a vote considering how heavily their forwards hit the scoreboard.
Ended up landing on Mansell but that pretty much tells us too much was left up to too few.

Contrary to the OP, our finals equation doesn't change much. Win one of Bulldogs and Port and then win the rest will likely see us make it.
