Autopsy Round 5, 2024 - Suns destroy hopeless Hawks

Mitchell needs to swing the axe, cannot reward mediocrity.

Ward, CMac, Butler, Nash and few others need to be dropped.

Cannot pick the team just on talent, needs to be picked based on who is prepared to bleed for the jumper - set some standards in this department. Frost, Maginnes, Worpel, Massimo… these types need to be first picked and played. The rest can have a spell until they’re prepared to leave it all out there and put it on the line every time.

Some pissweak efforts tonight that cannot be accepted, there needs to be some standards set.

Why are our forwards always behind the defenders as well

Our line coaches are clearly not working

Hale has stuffed the midfield
Kade Simpson not doing great for the forward line.

He is driving a lemon. Unfortunately he has the keys.

I don’t disagree - but when there is regression setting in with the younger talent we had that was showing promise and he’s been thoroughly out-coached in every single game this season then the driver has to start being questioned.

Other than Massimo, Scrimmers and Amon, there was little else.
Very disillusioned by our start this year. We have gone backwards.
Our top talent is a level below the likes of the Suns, GWS, which is understandable.
What I can’t stomach is the lack of effort, the lack of intensity and hardness and lack of fight.
To paraphrase our great coach Kennedy, “just do something, don’t think, do!”
Too many players seemingly content to just be on an AFL list.
This is not the Hawthorn way.

Problem is who do we we select ahead of them?

Our injury list is enormous and no one really put their hand up at BHH this week.

We are just not very good.

I think most are finallly coming to this conclusion through constant reinforcement.

Facts are, if Lewis, Newk, Day and Sis are playing poorly (or not at all) and the kids are yet to come on, we are pushing S#$t up hill.

We play well against very slow midfields like Brisbane and Collingwood. Games against those teams give a false sense of where we are at.

Last week was a sign of false hope.

We play very poorly against the Suns and have done for years.

We’re also not as bad as it looked tonight.

But jeez we better beat North…

I understand that there's a 5'2" player up for selection next; clearly, that should be our top pick. And North has a couple of tall VFL players we can attract, for $1m a pop. We are selecting a squad that cannot succeed ...

I don’t know why I thought we would have a good showing against GC - not win, but be far more competitive than usual against this mob

Got nothing to say…

Very disappointing after last week's effort in the second half. Mitchell needs to work out why the team can play that way against last year's premiers and then (seemingly) completely switch off again this week. I can't recall such a Jekyll and Hyde performance in the space of one week.

We played a team absolutely littered with high end academy picks and top 15 ND picks.

We pick rookies, rejects and 4th rounders and we're upset we're shit?

Time to get a reality check. Clarkson drive us into the dirt and the AFLs sick fascination with expansion teams is coming home.

We're in strife and need to draft better. Not much else we can do

Can't get over how bad our basic skills are, nowhere near AFL standard. Suns were hungrier and much harder at the footy and we look so slow and sluggish, especially in the midfield.

Not sure what this mob did in the off-season but it doesn't look like much.
Too much belief in the off season media hype. Even I was expecting much better. Injuries have certainly been cruel but that doesn’t explain basic skill errors and endeavour. Should be getting some key players back soon which should give us a better indication.
