Are you referring to Nick Daicos? Because I don’t see the merit in replacing the most composed player on the list with the least.
Nick was awesome in the second half in the midfield last week. He's going to move there permanently at some stage and will be replaced in defence with a lesser player. If you want to keep a similar transition style from defence, who else would you replace Nick with in defence? Crisp but I doubt they'll move him back. Might as well see how Markov goes.

Love your analysis sr36.

We’re taking a big risk this week.
Far more than last week.

Interested to see how it plays out.
Would love to be at the ground to see how it works.

Massive risk on our defensive game.

Have you ever played footy? Coach favouritism is rife and linking that with a lack of professionalism is dare I say it… deficient. I have no doubt decisions are made on more than friendship it’s when it’s a line ball call that it rises to the surface. It’s not that difficult be consistent and pick on form not hunches.

FWIW my take is nothing new I made the same comments last week when the rubbish started. Gaben is bang on Markov hasn’t warranted senior footy yet.
Have you ever played footy at the elite level?

People here were shitting on Markov before we even officially signed him.

Markov is mediocre. Being critical of a recruitment is hardly shitting on the bloke.

He came in as sub ahead of better performed guys at the lower level, struggled first up and is then promoted into the best 22. Compare that to McInnes who was great v Geelong, but rolled out as sub again v Port then needed to be sent back to the VFL to get touch. Fly talks often about setting guys up to succeed yet the treatments different.

Markov is a poor defender and user. From 9 possessions last week only 5 hit the target and he handballed it 6 times he’s a team worst user coming off half back which is concerning with the way we play. Having all the pace in the world doesn’t resolve those issues, but being a coach favourite does. It’s crap.

I think the thought process is trying to replace the outside running work that WHE gets through. It's probably reflective of poor outside depth if anything. The other guys who project for the role are inexperienced.

That doesn't mean Fly won't get it wrong from time-to-time.
I read a suggestion that Markov has been selected based on friendship or favouritism.

Utterly ridiculous.

The other bit of the discussion was around Markovs ball use and defensive ability, compounded by our ruck situation where we will likely give up a lot of territory. There's merit in that argument.

My view is that we're replacing WHEs role in the side with the next best runner we have.

I’m not going to pretend I know football better than fly does.

My preference would have been Ruscoe over Markov, because he’s taller and would be a better fillin for frampton if they wanted him to ruck. I suspect that ain’t happening and with WHE out, and wet conditions, they have opted for more of a ground level runner.

Along with Ginni replacing McInnes we have bolstered our ground level game which should suit the conditions they will be facing.

Yes, because we've never made average players in other systems better, have we?

I hope you're right but there are just as many examples of the opposite. Markov is a hard runner but his ball use is poor, he isn't great defensively and he's a low possession player.

I thought Daicos was BOG in the second half by a mile last week when he went into the midfield and they'd want to continue with that.

My guess - Nick into the midfield, Markov replaces him. WHE replaced by the extra small forward and them all rotating through the roles he covers. Crisp into defence as Frampton out of defence to ruck and the defenders will all roll back a spot - so Crisp essentially slotting into Maynard's role.
