Autopsy Solid win against Freo

Amartey unfortunately lost his one clunk one mark ability that was his strong suit needs to find it quick or will be out of the side.
True. Although he barely had a one on one marking contest tonight and burnt a few times on the lead. Seems the only time he is a marking contest he is trying to clunk it around 10 people. Feel our forward line needs to run better leading patterns as a group to give our KPFs a better chance.
Buddy was fantastic tonight. Turned back the clock!

Great win. Our 1st half was immense and arguably our best performance of the year. So clean with our ball use.
For mine we were too conservative with our ball movement in the second half - lots of long kicks to big packs.
All in all a v good effort.
Have a question for you call - do we think Gulden is better served in the middle or on the wing? Personally I’d prefer to have him receiving handballs from Parker, Mills, Rowey etc so we can utilise his great leg.
Good to see Mills building now too.
Personally I like to see Errol around 70% on the outside. Not sure he's a pure winger though. JMac closer to that style.

He misreads the flight a lot jumping at the wrong time,
did it in defence too

One play that I want to highlight was McInerney, back end of the 2nd quarter. Running back with the flight, ends up with the ball in hand, draws a player and gets a handball off, received it back again, and then hit Franklin lace out to give him his first goal and start his night off. Brilliant triple effort.

Only player I was truly disappointed in tonight was Blakey. Countless errors and brain fades and none of his dash.

Any win at Optus is worth celebrating.

Some odd takes in here for a 5 goal win.
By odd do you mean predictable?

All the hate on Buddy lately, it was good he could show he is still up to it when the heat is on. His off the ball, assists, 1%ers were valuable in us withstanding the Freo challenge, consistently in the second half. Good to see Wilba clutching and striking the footy much better tonight.

Good win bloods, off the face the Dons at Marvel.

Definitely need to trade in a kf if possible

None of Logan , McLean amd amartey are a contested mark that can take control of a game
I think Logan can add that string to his game but I agree, we don't get enough inside contested marks from those 3 to be confident with them as our 3 talls next year.

We shouldn't be relying on buddy the way we still are. If someone else doesn't stand up he might actually get an extension

I think the fitness work he did with a few weeks off has Defo worked.

So much more in the game

Pretty sure he was playing second tall with no Melican or Francis. That really isn't his strength. Maybe Fox was, I'm not sure, but he seemed unsure of himself quite a few times I agree.

Just got home from the game.

Workmanlike win with plenty to like

But I saw first-hand why we need Barrass. Our back 6 was a mess. Blakey was zoning off, marking nobody & then when an unguarded opposition player marked inside 50, lots of arm waving and recriminations ensued (between McCartin, Blakey, Fox and Rampe).

Fortunately, Freo didn’t get many quality forward entries - because if they did, we’d be in strife.

Up until tonight, I didn’t think we should give up much draft collateral for Barrass. I’ve changed my mind.

But aside from that, the thing I enjoyed most tonight was watching the way Logan moves and creates opportunities. He’s actually incredibly fast - will be a nightmare match up in a couple of years.

And the joy on Hayward’s face after his first goal. His teammates mobbed him. It meant a lot.
