Autopsy The King influences Umpires a win over North by 3 points... #jessiewhitesque

Shit way to win, but at the end of the day it was a deserved free kick and we needed some luck to finally go our way somewhere.

Some of our mids had okay games but absolutely smashed in the clearances again today. I have no idea what the answer to that is, but clearly neither do our coaching staff.

Anyway, we got the W and it seemed to mean a lot to the players. Lets hope it's enough of a spark to get some semblence of momentum into our season.

McAndrew and Gould were objectively very poor, but McLean had a very good game.
I thought they did what you'd want them to do for where they are at. Gould stood up in a few important plays in an under-siege back-line, and McAndrew competed in the ruck and had some good moments.

First and fifth games respectively. Moments are all you're probably looking for with them. Anything more is a bonus.

I dunno

We're like over structured in the mids or something

Message is too complicated or we're too cute

Maybe it clicks
100%. They look like they're thinking too hard, overly concentrated on sticking to their lines rather than playing their game. Coaches need to strip it back and relax, realise it can get to a players head.

Two ways to think about really. Such an embarrassing performance overall. Smacked in clearances, no pressure in defence, no heat and tackles. Our ball method is just inconsistent and pathetic. Look like shell of ourselves. Credit to North, their clearance game is top notch and have some young guns in there.

However a win is a win. You play to win the game. We could've easily folded over when we were 16 points down, but not when there is a player called Luke Parker. What an inspiration. How we were able to not give in, and just keep the ball rolling forward to get home was something I can hang my hat on and be really proud of. Something we haven't done ONCE this year until now.

Luck has just got to be on your side sometimes. On top of Parker, really liked McLeans game. Did his job. Buddy was huge for us too, his best game in a while.

Sorry I must interrupt.

Our midfield is the most intact part of our team.
Small, talented, speedy, clever, cameos, 3 v 3 alongside the ruckmen.

No F k n excuses.
I am saying it is a factor not the only reason. I said the midfield is a disaster at the moment. Everyone can see that but if you seriously think our injuries play no part in the way this season is going I don't know what to say. Also every time we play a team with injuries, even just a couple of their players out many on here say, 'no excuses we need to win, they are undermanned blah blah' and what we lose so many key position players but hey it doesn't matter for us. Please.

That was a shameful display of football from a lot of players, leave Parker and some young players out.
There also needs to be some serious finger pointing at the coaching. Their job is to motivate and drive the group, this group looks listless. The message is getting lost badly, whatever the hell that message is.

Make no mistake Norf are utterly shambolic and we should have lost to them.

Gould needs to be judged like an inexperienced and young player coming into a struggling team with a train-wreck backline. Feels like people are assessing him as if we're going reasonably well and he has players breathing down his neck a bit. Needs time and needs to be backed in. Half of this backline has hardly played together at both AFL and reserves level.

The McAndrew comment was especially weird though. I thought he was pretty impressive today.

Gould needs to impose and float across contests more. Too many times he's just dwardling out the back. Defenders make their mark when showing ability to float into the hole and take intercepts.

McAndrew got absolutely monstered in the ruck. McLean kinda saved us when he went in there in the last and somewhat stopped the flow of easy clearances. I know it's his first game and I'm not judging his potential, but he really didn't do anything to impress today.

Gould is so slow and I thought was largely ineffective. It's way too easy to score against him. He just doesn't impose himself.

Probably the lowest I've felt after a win
Yeah na. Absolute pills of Norf supporters at the game and for the first time ever got in their faces at the end. All they could do was stick the middle finger up in reply. They deserve every bit of misery they get and for that reason alone today is a great day despite it being such an awful win.

Even with the injuries, I don't think he knows how to pull us mentally out from the hole that really started at 3/4 time in the prelim.

The Melbourne game was a perfect example, when we didn't have injuries, and we just rolled over

I hate this narrative . We didn’t roll over. We played for the win. We played super aggressively for the first ten minutes and kept trying to win. They could have played defensively and lost by 4 goals.

Melbourne wasn’t a bad performance - but like much of the season we didn’t make the most of our opportubities

On to today. I think everyone tried incredibly hard and am glad they won.

I think there are a few players who just won’t make it in this team. Or maybe won’t make it with us.

Leaving that to one side some of those who will and have made it for us are just average this season. And maybe will never be more than good ordinary players.

I don’t really like the look of the post buddy and paddy team. We need a really good midfielder and some book ends

Nothing seems to work with this team though. Losses that should put some hunger in the boys, breaks in between quarters, clutch goals that fire the team up... nothing seems to get the boys off the canvas. They just serve up the same shit at the start of each bounce of each quarter in each game.

We're also not gonna win many games of footy this year with our midfield the way it is. Every time we get a goal it's cringe-time as it goes back to the centre where the opposition just dominates.

Gonna be a very long year.

Perhaps next week we actually rectify the midfield. Here’s an idea Sheldrick is a mid Horse. A win is a win I guess that was almost the worst performance of the year shows how awful North are
