2024 Fixture

Did the AFL actually compensate us in the fixture for last year's finals debacle?

  • Sort of - Better difficulty, but commercial fixture as expected or worse

Ridiculous headline on Fox Sports: "Crows handed huge reward". No mention of Port.
What reward? How does that help us with premiership points? It looks like the beginning of a media campaign to convince us that
we are getting benefits from goal-gate. I think we should be the judges of that.
Yep the whole narrative is bullshit.

If we are getting better draw it’s because we’ve copped our punishment whilst we were shit, but now playing a decent exciting brand of football and on the up, we deserve a better draw.

But even that’s crap, clubs like Carlton have been shit for years and haven’t suffered.

I bet we still don't play Essendon at home I would prefer to play Essendon in gather round on Friday and Port play Melbourne.

We are being set up here, I just know it. They hated we embarrassed Carlton last year

There's nothing scary about Melbourne.

Exactly as expected again

The AFL trying to schedule (for the matches not including the SA teams) as much garbage as possible in Gather Round

Five of the matches are good teams vs shitty teams (Brisbane/North, Collingwood/Hawthorn, Sydney/West Coast, Carlton/Fremantle and Richmond/St Kilda) assuming St Kilda/Carlton remain finalists and Fremantle/Richmond aren't

They've managed to get the non-Victorian game no one attends in there too (Gold Coast vs GWS)

Yep the whole narrative is bullshit.

If we are getting better draw it’s because we’ve copped our punishment whilst we were s**t, but now playing a decent exciting brand of football and on the up, we deserve a better draw.

We'll know it's all bullsh!t when we get the Ballarat/Darwin/Tassie/Geelong quartet of fixtures.

In fairness to the VFL it makes it easier then for them to rip it away from us in a few years time and claim poor attendances.

Perfectly set up so the AFL can whinge SA didn't get enough supporters to the grounds so they can ship gather round to Melbourne where the AFL really wants it to be.

It is a s**t game to finish gather round
Yep but the fixture is a hard one to get right. They’re really going to get ripped on no matter what they schedule because of the “this game could’ve drawn 70k at the G” sook. And not wanting to ”steal” a good match-up away from the season. Essentially Vics complain about everything

I think the Lions v Kangaroo's should be half an hour earlier. Allow a bit more time for interstaters to do both games. The early Friday game will be huge this year.

I get why games are at Mount Barker, but no one wants to come from Melbourne and go there for the day. I would of kept the Sunday double header at Adelaide Oval.
