Autopsy 42 point win(wut) vs Adelaide (Joel kicks 9 OMG!!)

  • Weird thought we were bloody average for most of the first 2.5 qtrs bar one good burst. Great last 1.5 qtr. The starts have been really poor for the last 4-5 weeks...can't tell if this a sign of a impending form slump or the super optimistic view - maybe we actually are in one and are just that far ahead? Either way winning when you're not playing well is massive.
  • Amartey obviously terrific with the goals but thought Grundy was our best, huge game, kept giving us first use when we weren't going well which kept us in it....would've been in a world of trouble if we were losing centre clearances.
  • Adams best game for the club too, another who dug in early when we needed it. Heeney and Gulden worked through a lot of attention, although Gulden a but sloppier than usual.
  • Don't like to pot individuals especially in a win, but a bit disappointed in Campbell, didn't take his chance but he's so damn fumbly and panicked. He's got all the skills so hopefully he can pull it together, but not really Best 22 standard atm. Maybe needs a good patch in the reserves where hopefully he can start to dominate and get confidence.

We always knew Grundy could do this, just mismanaged by 2 clubs. Traded away when the Pies were at the bottom and the Dees couldn't make the ruck combo work.
Was injured when Collingwood needed to offload salary cap. Was never going to work at the dees given Gawn & Grundy are both rucks, not fwd/rucks. I'm just glad he fell into our lap at the right time.

Don't know what has happened to Campbell - his confidence just looks through the floor. Was building nicely late last year I thought, and I thought this year he would take big steps forward. But just seems to be in a funk where everything he does is looking 'difficult' - he is too good a footballer for it to last, but definitely think a stint in the ressies to get him on the ball and building his confidence couldn't do any harm.

Crazy game, Adelaide led for most of the game and yet we still won by a considerable margin. This team has the vibe of Geelong 2007-2011 or the three-peat Hawks in current form where 15 minutes of good footy can blow the opposition off the park.

Joel Amartey had a ridiculous night, was taking contested marks for his goals early on when the Crows were on top too so most of his goals were when the game was on the line.

Brodie Grundy and a fit Heeney has absolutely transformed this midfield this year. It seems like Jordon and Adams are also influential at stages of games where the opposition have the momentum.

The group must have had an incredible preseason because we just look like we have a fitness level that is far superior to the rest of the competition. Often look like we can play another quarter and the end of games when other teams slow to a crawl.

My biggest concern about the slow starts is if we are down and lose Grundy or one of the mids were are up the creek without a paddle.
The slow starts are more about opposition “fast” (read: high pressure) starts.

Once the pressure eases, we carve it up.

But you’re right - injury seems our biggest threat.

Let’s just hope we do it in September.

Be a biggest of our chokes if we are still this dominant going into September and don’t go all the way

I just wanna win it
Punts ffs just enjoy the now brother…everting else will sort itself out…

Oh I am with you.

Any ****er gets off the bus sucking a baby dummy I will do my dummy.

I reckon this team seems different though.

And a lot have felt the pain.

Dunno, just calmer about this side than 2016 when I thought we were a lock.

Be a lot happier when Mills is back. Think that will just make it harder for the opposition to match up on us.

Parker and Mills are just chefs kiss on the team. And Fox. I mean it is in pretty good shape.

We are being hunted which is great, the rest of the comp has to deconstruct us.

Let them try.

Be inclined to give McDonald a run in the ruck , Reid role or give Hamling a crack as he deserves
I feel like you trolling now.,,
