Injury toll is piling up at Essendon, missing Langford, Parish, Duursma, Reid, Draper, Hobbs from the starting 22.

Carlton 1.01 favourites, impossible to lose with their easy fixture and 3 days extra break

That is an unprecedented injury toll. I had most of those players in the All-Australian team before they got injured too.

I also agree that Carlton has had an easy draw. I think we got to play a team outside the top 8 back in early April. Once Carlton plays the good teams they should fall back to their real ladder position of 10-12th.

I'll go with Ben on Harry, Laverde on Charlie

Laverde would have to play out of his skin just to neutralize Curnow, I'd much rather ridley take him on but then again MUCH prefer Ridley being the interceptor.

It would be quite embarrassing for 2nd place to lose to 5th. Essendon have it all to lose and will go in big favourites. Anything other than a win is a big choke for them.

Carlton are paying $1.56 to Essendon $2.44................

how exactly would Essendon losing be a choke lol? We are the underdogs?

not to mention you had Essendon in 13th and Carlton 3rd in your predictions?

Things have changed from what I thought was going to happen in November to what is actually going on in June. I know this might shock you but I am not actually an oracle.

Essendon are top two, fit and firing and pushing forwards a double chance and home finals, Carlton are fighting for scraps at the bottom of the 8. This would be a huge choke for the Bombers and don’t let the markets which are shaped by a few Carlton heavy hitters tell you otherwise.

The 7.5 day turnaround for essendon just wasn't enough to recover from the emotional damage the support base received in Queensland

It's no secret that Essendon's ladder position is inflated based on who they have played. We are playing no way near a top 4 team

We will not finish in the Top 2 and will be lucky IMO to make finals based on our recent form 4-5 week form.

You clearly are not an oracle. By dont also be a troll.

Carlton are the clear favorites for a reason. Suggesting Essendon losing is a choke, when they are not favorites to win in the first instance, is just stupid.

Easy to say, but there is time for many things to happen!

The key will be finishing 2nd or 3rd to evade playing Sydney in Sydney.

Playing Sydney on the G is a much easier prospect.
Going the early crow, but you should be confident that I think either of these will make to the last dance. I am an un-noted authority on these things.

Full strength we can match it with Carlton but I think the likely midfield is going to miss Parish's ability around clearances so I think we'll concede the midfield battle. With Reid and Redman injured, it means we're up against it when it comes to containing their forwards. So we really have no choice but to at least halve the midfield battle. Perhaps Durham can replicate his performance on Bont and reduce Cripps' impact. I doubt we can match Carlton on the inside though.

Ridley, Martin and our outside run are key if we're going to win. We'd need to be at our intercepting best with good decision making entering our 50. The pressure needs to be like it was vs GWS and Collingwood.

Do I think we'll win? No, but I don't think we're completely out of it. Maybe 45-55 Carlton's way especially if Langford is out.

As per the current ladder, after this match we've played all of 1, 2 (Essendon), 3, 4, (5 is us), 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

After Essendon, we have the Bye then Geelong (again).

The other 4 games were vs Richmond, Brisbane (away) Adelaide and North (the Adelaide loss still stings).

Things get easier at the back end of the year, but still. If we can beat Essendon this weekend, Sydney roll the Cats (in Sydney) and with Port having the bye, that would leave us 2nd at the end of the round which you'd take given our draw so far.

Now watch us lose. Too many Essendon supporters in here talking their team down, which makes me nervous.

Not sure why everyone wants to claim underdog status. If we’re serious about being a contender we need to win this game.

Anything less is a failure.

called a safety blanket

Carlton supporters creating a nice warm safehouse they can camp in IF they lose being the favourites. it's a weird type of troll, but an innovative one.
