The club put a line in the sand after this game last year and decided that wasn't acceptable anymore, if they dont remember that this week and come out looking for blood i'll be disappointed.

Always a chance they come out too high and waste their chances inviting the bombers back into the contest but personally im expecting a bit of a statement from the leaders of the club.

We're missing Docherty, Cerra, Martin, Cotterel, Silvagni from our best 22 and you dont see us complaining.
Only Cerra is best 22, rest are fringe, that's the difference. Reid and Hobbs our closest fringe but would replace current players easily.

Have you not been anywhere near the main board for the first half of the season? Carlton fans been bemoaning injuries all season.

That being said complaining about fringe player injuries (Reid, Hobbs) does irk me.
The only fringe player in the post you quoted is Silvagni.

Would say the future version of Doch is likely to be fringe. Is it 3 acls now?

As per the current ladder, after this match we've played all of 1, 2 (Essendon), 3, 4, (5 is us), 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

After Essendon, we have the Bye then Geelong (again).

The other 4 games were vs Richmond, Brisbane (away) Adelaide and North (the Adelaide loss still stings).

Things get easier at the back end of the year, but still. If we can beat Essendon this weekend, Sydney roll the Cats (in Sydney) and with Port having the bye, that would leave us 2nd at the end of the round which you'd take given our draw so far.

Now watch us lose. Too many Essendon supporters in here talking their team down, which makes me nervous.

That's a lovely fantasy... but what happens to the ladder when we get rolled by 60+?

Even before Langford’s injury I was worried about Essendon’s ability to score/bring the ball to ground.

Weitering is a physical beast who will likely be able to do as he pleases against us. I mean Mac Andrew and Collins just cut us up on Sunday and Weitering is a class above that.

Missing Parish, Redman, Langford, Draper, Duursma, Reid and Hobbs from starting 22, Carlton is a lock.
Blues missing Docherty, Cerra, Martin, Pittonet, Cottrell, Silvagni and Cuningham who, when healthy, have all been proven best 22 players.
Not sure where they all fit though.

Our list has gotten better in the past few weeks, but it wasn't that long ago that we had around 14-16 on the list every week, with half of those being locks for the best 22 and the other half being the players who would've been next in line to replace the first half of the list. It was pretty dire.
Our VFL side at one point had hardly any AFL listed players with actual senior experience.

Easily fringe, 3 ACLs and turns 31 this year, if he is a vital cog Carlton have big issues.
He wasn't fringe when he did his ACL though, easily starting 22 and still will be. You're just deliberately downplaying him to downplay the severity of our injury list.

This should be a great game and I am looking forward to it.
Both teams up the ladder and poised for finals.

I have to go with Carlton, only because I trust them more at this stage, though Essendon have looked good this year.

Carlton - 15 points

Cerra, Docherty and Maybe martin OK.... Cotterel......... and Silvagni? hahahah what?

surely you are taking the piss?

that injury list is like getting an assignment in high school and having to fluff the last 500 words to get the required word count.

lol

the safety barriers being set up by both fan bases must be hilarious to neutrals.

just utter distrust for each team on show by its respective supporters.

The fact is if Essendon dish up anything close to what they have the last 4-5 weeks, Carlton will win. easily.

Just a question, at what age, and in what season into his career, did Langford kick more than 15 goals in a year?

4 years (2019) aged 21 or 22 or something like that

though the better question is how many years until Essendon actually started playing him full time in the fwd line, because after we did that (finally in 2023), he kicked 51. previously he has played all over the ground and only rotated through the fwdline.
