Mate honestly I'm surprised all the interstate clubs just sit back and take it up the backside every year.. in any other country there would be a war if the final had to be played in the same state which favors certain teams.

Can’t really blame anyone to be fair, the game is in an atrocious state atm, it’s becoming unwatchable even for neutrals..
It's still also the hardest sport in the world to officiate, has always been imperfect and there are plenty of things to talk about on top of the mandatory umpiring whinging (to add a modicum of balance).

The side under the pump and being hunted often scraps, reacts late and ends up harshly umpired. Especially away from home. Port let themselves down. If you go and play well as the Bulldogs did in Geelong last week, you'll find there is little to complain about umpiring wise.

Read the room mate it's everyone
Read the room. Not a single comment from anyone about missed frees for Carlton, or frees that Port got that were soft or not there. Are you saying there aren't ANY the other way?
If people were genuine, they'd point them all out, but it's only ever bitching about Carlton. It's hilariously obvious.

The best way to fix the umpiring is to go back to 3 umpires and drop the rookies from the game.

They’ll never do it but I think that’s the solution

The umpires have no hope with the AFL doing them no favours with their constant rule changes and interpretations. If we can watch a replay from different angles and not know which way a free kick is meant to go, what hope do they have trying to work it out live.

We’d have key forwards lining up to crack the ton if they were getting the same calls as Curnow. All well and good to say 50/50 calls “were there” but why aren’t they there for everyone else?
Put aside the fact that the frees are there:

Nobody but Curnow ever gets the benefit of a 50/50 call?

Check the actual stats before crying.

thanks for the verification. Charles leading the free kick count as a forward. But we all know that anyway. All the others in front of him are mids and rucks which touch the ball 4 times the amount

Yeh that's an exaggeration on both accounts.
Only a little bit.

Cloke would regularly have 2 or 3 blokes scragging him and almost always get a free kick paid against him if he tossed one of them aside.

Curnow never gets free kicks paid against him and regularly gets soft free kicks where his opponent technically brushed his shoulder in the contest but didn't actually do anything to impede him from contesting the mark.

Charlie is a talented enough footballer. He doesn't need the extra help. Even today, most forwards don't get the treatment he does.

4 umps has been crap, just an mro/cash grab.

Interstate teams play at the G more than StKilda do every year...not sure about North

100%

A big chunk of AFL profits needs to go into fixing rule/umpiring, probably not Katy Perry.

Daniher actually leads the league for stay at home forwards free kick wise. Charlie is like bottom 10 on the list for forwards but this place erupts when he gets a free.

It is tall poppy syndrome.
