Autopsy Back on the winners list Swans by 53 against the Dogs.

Clarke did the business again. Dale 12 kicks and I would wager 8-10 of those were kick ins. Perfect effort. Just highlights the idiocy of the role not given to him against Hind last week.

Reid as I said in the Game Day thread, if you blanket the last 4 or 5 weeks he’s been in our best 5 players. Brilliant game.

Warner and Mills great again, and the defence great.
I am quite happy to eat humble pie.
When finalising the list prior to this year, I was very much in favour of letting Reid go. With Bud, Amartey, McLean and McDonald together with the recruitment of Ladhams, I saw no need for Reid. He has proved me very wrong to which I am very happy.
His last 4-5 weeks have been very impressive and as good as Papley was on Friday, I thought what Reid did was even more influential. Giving away 11cm to English, I expected the Dogs to dominate clearances and with the potency of their midfield, I thought our great start would be wiped away. We were not dominated as expected but in fact won hitouts 42-31. Wonderful performance.

even as an older player with ongoing injury issues, reid (when fit) retains that athleticism he always had ...
that has been really important in his recent run of good form
if he can maintain body health and this form he's a bit of an x factor for us going into finals

our best football is the best football in the competition this season
against both port and essendon we started prett much as we did last night ... but a couple of key moments, mistakes, seemed to just pull the plug on all that confidence needed to keep playing that way, especially for a younger, less experienced team still working itself out
i'm sure that's a big part of the inconsistency that frustrates and infuriates us as fans, and no doubt the coaches and probably the players themselves
but at our best no team can stop that flowing, relentless attack ...
as was the case against melbourne, the swarming pressure broke the dogs last night
yes, we've had those bloody annoying losses, but we make finals and hit that sort of form, no team will want to play us
I think we need to let the bath water down the drain a bit and give the Dees some credit - their footy was unbeatable at the beginning of the year.

Caesar - you were saying Rowbum was being used suboptimally last week. This week he was very effective in my view, mostly due to heirs tackling and intensity in my eyes. Was there any change to his role that also made a difference?

I thought it was a standard game from him. Good when he had it, didn't have it enough.

Great win against scum , gee wizz we picked some holes in them with elite kicking . The only issue is that i left the pub at HT and then had to listen to JB and BT !
Just mute it. Interestingly, I watched the first set of the tennis last night and the commentators barely said anything. They let the tennis do the talking. Shame the two 7 idiots couldn't take notice.

Just gets better for the dogs after round 17.
You have to wonder how is it possible that a side that gets absolutely smashed in every facet of the game still has a 19-13 free kick count in their favour. Beggars belief!
The old spin used to be "first to the ball so get rewarded "

Now we all just know for sure they play for frees.

Not that hard to understand. They train to win frees and train to throw the ball. It is considered a “skill set” by a number of coaches and commentators.

It makes me sick but tbh, we should either advocate against it or start training to win frees ourselves.

You're not too far off. We had a shocking run injury wise 2019/20. Our medical / rehab was run by a sports physician, as is the normal. But we had players constantly out, unable to get back on the park. There was also the decision to put Sinclair back on after dislocating his shoulder after relocation, with him promptly re- dislocating it. Buddy barely played any games in this period. All our talls were injured, culminating in us using guys like Aliir, Fox, Dawson and Blakey in the ruck. It was a complete shambles.

Dean Raper, an excellent physiotherapist, was brought in to takeover as head in late 2020. I think the results speak for themselves. Buddy has exceeded expectations and is probably backing up for another year at least. Reid is looking the best he has for a long time. Melican has barely missed a game this year. We have one of the shortest injury lists in the competition. Dean has been an absolute genius with keeping our guys on the park.

Very good analysis WB, except I believe that his name is Damian.

I don't understand the bashing JUH gets. Very good young forward. Weird obsession some have.

Modern day draft coverage in any pro sport is that the draftee is guaranteed to be a gun and will save/lead the club to glory immediately.

It's utter bullshit, and it is too damaging to too many people.

The jury is still out on JuH - he has time.

But Schache - times up. Bust.

It's actually remarkable what a bust Schache has been. There's not living up to the expectations in a frustrating, Sam Reid kinda way, and then there's just really not being a very good player at all. Has just shown no ability at the level. I actually feel sorry for him and all top picks that don't work out. It's a brutal stomach drop to go from the elation of being recognised as one of the best 18 year olds in the country with the prospect of a decade or longer career ahead of you, to then never being able to find your feet and your career just kinda fizzing out by your mid-20s.

It's a first world problem for sure, but I dunno what would be tougher - your dream being unattainable, or attaining your dream but it ends up disappointing?

Ladhams has had a bloody good year.

Probably a bit under-rated on here.

Literally the reason I watch the replays the way I like to do is to try and dismiss or contextualise the stats. They mean little on their own. Parker was enormous in the first quarter and just plugged away solidly for the last 3. That first quarter set the tone though.

Clarke may be higher but I can only judge what I can see and if Clarke was really the sole reason Dale struggled it was mostly off the ball and not on the telly.
