For how long though?

Same questions apply.

-Is this the foundation of our next geniune tilt midfield?

Dawson, Rachele, Pedlar, Soligo are clearly intended to be central to it.

-Are these 30 y.o+ mainstays going to be there when we do finally make a play for the Cup?

No. Why is that relevant? That's not why they're playing.

-Should we be getting more games into younger legs in a season where we arent any real threat?

We're the 2nd youngest side in the league. Young players ARE getting games.

-If not now, then when is too late?

We are now.

- Are we done rebuilding?

No, we need a couple of extra pieces.

-Does a settled best 22 now cost us a more age appropriate, settled best 22 in the future.

No. We have a best 22, and we have three or so players outside of it who could potentially be a part of it in the future. They'll get opportunities.

Schoenberg IS NOT carrying too much weight, he's the fittest and trimmest he's ever been, it's his ball handling (fumbly) and inconsistent kicking that's been holding him back currently but even that was pretty good yesterday. I really have to question if you've watched him play this season if that's your take.

Burgess has him in 1st class nick, easily the best nick he's ever been in.
Yeah, I agree with this.

Schoenberg is getting very close to deserving a game again.

- Is it very easy to answer questions you ask yourself.

Yes.

- Who is the most intelligent, skilled poster on this board.

Me.

Can we please give brayden cook a 4 game block to see where he’s at. Has more talent than 1/3 of our afl side
Bold statement --- who would he replace?

I did not watch the SANFL game, but he did not get a mention in the review on the AFC site:

Wouldnt make the change for the Pies game, but after that its a straight swap for Sholl
Fair enough, but why? (serious question)

It looks like Nicks is happy with Sholl, as is.
If Cook is a better option, then he's a better option for the Pies game as well,
BUT
he did not rate a mention vs Eagles last game and while he is 2cms taller, he is 6Kgs lighter than Sholl:
"Born: 7 March 2000 (age 23 years)
Height: 1.86 m
Weight: 80 kg" (could be old data)

Don't get me wrong; I'm not all that happy with Sholl who seems to play well only against soft opposition or when the Crows are winning. Sholl is serviceable, but not a creative or impactful player in his own right.
Nicks is also going to have to find room for McAdam, who is best-22 when fit.

Yeah this is an important one

I don’t think we’ll see any changes, but it’ll tell us a lot about where we’re at. Guys like Jones, Sholl etc need to have a field day using the expansive wings of the MCG to spread and carry the ball
Jones is this year's surprise packet IMO.

Loving his input.

Highly underrated by opposition supporter w***ers and commentators.

As I seem to recall in the dark cobwebbed corners of my memory, Mutineer was right from the start.

The boy can play.

Yeah I was a doubter for the past couple of years, but he’s rapidly improved in both the areas he needed to - accumulation and decision making. And now he’s suddenly IMO one of our most important players

Such an improvement this year, but I’m disappointed that the last few weeks he seems to be playing more HB again, would love to see him permanently on a wing with some CB’s as well with a view to him becoming a more permanent centre square mid from next year.

Parnell was terrible today. I'm not sure what's happened to him, but his disposal has gone down the toilet. If anyone is in, it's Schoenberg.

Being against Collingwood, it's only appropriate we play in Moe.
Collingwood have Ginnivan and Bobby Hill.

Parnell to play traditional defensive role on one of these guys.

He did a good job on an in form Ginnivan last year. I don't care about Parnell needing to be offensive or his poor skills at the moment. We need a proper lock down small defender against Collingwood.

Charlie Cameron carved us up a few weeks back.

We can forgo a midfield position to bring in a small defender.

Cook is highly talented .....but ATM he's lacking desperation & drive .....and importantly, his DEF is poor

He's getting by on his natural talent in the SANFL .....but it's not enough at the next level

I do like, that Sholl is aware & noticeably trying to work on his deficiencies :whitecheck: ......Cook isn't YET

This is such a huge game imo, I have more interest in seeing how we perform at this away game than any other of the away games where we were forced to perform on a suburban sub par AFL standard stadium.

MCG, Collingwood, huge crowd - yeah this is the litmus test of whether we can win a GF in the next 3-4 years. Not winning games at Ballarat next to a car park.

Sholl is a soft weakling. He crumbles under any kind of contact or pressure.

A great test for him then against the Pies pressure style - certainly no evidence to suggest Cook is a hard unit. Schoenberg would definitely be in the mix
