Made harder by Doedee being out?

Of all the people posting on here - your takes are by far the worst.
Yep, I rated, and still rate Doedee as a top level player .....apparently, so do BRIS, given the Contract they gave him

And he was chased by a couple of successful Clubs

So maybe, question your own biased POV's

He's a good player, no denying that. But we coped just fine without him in the back half of last year.

Adelaide's points against in the first 11 games last season; 899 (avg. 81.727). Adelaide's points against in the last 11 games last season; 866 (avg. 78.727).

We had an easier back half to the season (WCE*2, NM), which accounts for some of the difference. But the fact is, he wasn't irreplaceable.

So question.

The crows offered him a paltry $250k and only a 2 year contract. A Rookie (pick 20) earns 105k and gets a 3 year contract.

So obviously the Crows didnt rate him at all either. Especially since they could have matched. We valued pick 19 more than we did Doedee.

So were your beloved Crows as biased as I am that Doedee is not a top level player?

Don't forget, we also had Worrell and Milera in the back half .....Milera offering the rebound and elite kicking off HB ....that no player has stepped up to replace him

Look at the damage Jordan Clark is doing for FREO today .....sets all the rebound & attacking moves

So from last year's DEF ....Murray, Doedee, Worrell, Milera out .....and the demise of Smith ....that's 5 of the back 7 missing

And yet our defence is statistically miles better this year.

Defence is the one area that has improved since last year and you’re here banging on like it’s some sort of massive issue. Sure, we have some injuries back there, but it’s the one part of the ground where we have depth. Butts, Keane, Hamill and Worrell before he got injured have been much improved in 2024. Nankervis is spending a lot of time at half back and has been a revelation. Doedee was mostly terrible last year before he got injured - 188cm, ravaged by injuries, a poor kick, and the definition of a player negatively impacted by 6-6-6 rules. Etc.

We are conceding significantly less points per game than last year, despite our midfield typically being mauled in every loss and despite a worse win-loss ratio.

Our midfield has no depth. Our forward line cannot cover for a cooked Tex, an injured Thilthorpe, a low on confidence Rachele and a relocated Rankine (combined with horrendous delivery from a shit midfield).

Summary:
Midfield bad
Forward line average to bad
Defense good

Everyone was so bad yesterday that they'll all keep their spots unless injured

Can't single anyone out because they were all hopeless

It’s also the group that got the job done against league heavyweights, the Eagles. Yesterday was just a blip, back in the players, trust the system, learn from the learnings and work harderer.

Maybe some match sim against the SANFL side will get the group up and going again.

With Nicks saying Dawson was fine and they were looking to manage him through the two shorter breaks I don't think they'll leave him out with Walker and Crouch also coming out. That would be the obvious path to debut Dowling if they wanted to go that route though.

Crouch and Walker definitely out and I assume Berry will start in Crouch's spot after two weeks as sub. That leaves one more to come in and a new sub. Thinking maybe Pedlar and T. Murray as a forward/ruck option. If Dawson is also out, Dowling plays too.

How is playing 82% TOG a form of management? If you were going to manage him, wouldn’t you do it sfdibst s side that is trash on the road? How much benefit did we really gain by beating the Eagles by those extra 5 goals?

He’s a very good player, rate him highly too. But his year last year was trash, we’d have been better performed if he did his knee during the preseason. Caused by playing under duress, but his output is not a negative variable between 2023 and 2024.

Cooked Tex gets nearly 50% of our entries. Unfortunately, he concedes far too much clean possession from contests that he loses. It might be time to call it.

Richmond have so many injuries, I don't even know who their forwards are... Rumours are Martin will be rested as well for the trip.

Crows can afford to rest their seniors for this game.

We won’t do that, we’ll risk further injury to maintain continuity credits and the extra 4 goal win that’s required to stick it up the haters.

We should be making changes with view to next season, particularly against a poor Richmond. Perfect opportunity to blood some younger players.

Selection panel won't though & probably continue go pick injured players.

Perfect time to play younger players... but won't happen.

Ins: Strachan, Ryan, Dowling, T Murray, Curtin
Outs: O’Brien, Smith, Crouch, Walker, Murphy

B: Michaelanny, Butts, Hinge
HB: Ryan, Keane, Nankervis
C: Sholl, Soligo, Curtin
HF: Berry, Fogarty, Keays
F: Cook, Burgess, Dawson
R: Strachan, Rachele, Laird
I: Borlase, Dowling Jones, T Murray
Sub: Schoenberg

Hey guys, I am heading over from Melbourne to watch the game on Thursday night with a mate.
We’re staying until Saturday night when we fly out.
We love a parmi, and would love to savour the best that Adelaide has to offer (probably within proximity of the CBD if possible).
Any other ideas to fill some time would be great too. We’ve got the Adelaide Oval roof climb booked in but apart from that and the game a lot of free time!

Cheers!
