Xavier Lindsay, Harvey Langford, and Murphy Reid according to someone one of them or most of them had very very poor testing. We can't risk it.

While testing isn't the be all and end all they haven't played VFL/Against men aswell.

I do trust Murphy Reid out of that lot.

If one of those three become our top midfielder we draft we are in trouble.

------

7. Lalor
10. Murphy Reid
12. Tobie

That's acceptable given at least 1 of Tobie or lalor will be an elite mid
Still more than 2 months till combine. Hold fire.

If we turn Barrass into Hawthorn’s R1 pick plus a pick that lands us Liam Baker I’d consider that a pretty good result, especially if Hawthorn miss finals
Yep, my thoughts exactly. Then we take 3 live picks most likely in the top 25ish, plus take Malakai Champion late. If we also secure English, Baker and Graham plus that, I reckon we walk away having had a very good off-season.

Considering how well our 3 big lads oscar, snake and jilliams do fwd of centre I wouldn't want English getting in the way there when he spreads. English best attributes is his spread from stoppages not his ruck craft. We need ruck craft. English simply doesn't bring anything to the table that 2x Williams do. Flynn has a point of difference because he's a good ruck but sadly can't get his body right. If we want to build a good midfield we need to get our heads around the idea of using draft capital on a good ruckmen. Kbobel, ready, Moyle etc and not the sugar hit of English because he's a FA.

Commentary talking up steely green as a young liam baker

Smilie has no runs on board at VFL level. And when asked to steps up in national champs he failed.

Jagga is safe in has has runs on VFL level and he stepped up at national champs. So Smillie is a no go for me.
Smiths VFL form helps alleviate concerns he's physically not up to it. It doesn't mean he projects higher.

We will probably still end up 17th coz North will beat Tigers and us and we play cats last rd and lose by 100

So pick 2... Draper

Doubt it. North play both Dogs and Hawks who are in substantially better form than Geelong and Carlton.

A few theoretical idea's, would you?

1) Straight swap Barras for Warner?

2) Trade/Drop Sheed and pick up Graham as replacement?

3 a) - Trade B. Williams and pick up English for free?
3 b) - Play B.Williams forward + move O.Allen to backline and get English for free ? (subject to Barras leaving).

For those saying we don't need a Shai Bolton you all must be joking.
Every club needs an explosive Mid/forward who has x factor galore. That we may not be able to get him is one thing but make no mistake we need Shai Bolton as much as any type of player.
Agree however believe we would have to give up too much to get him so imo no he definitely won’t be coming here.

Nah disagree. English works tirelessly and can help support the backline dropping in the hole like Gawny does so well for Melbourne, if you don’t want him impacting the game up forward (which I think he still can do in parts).

He will also outwork the opposition ruckman to provide options for us all over the ground, and gives us a fourth midfielder around the ground.

12 months ago his level was All-Australian and he costs us nothing in draft capital. We’d be mad to not front-load a deal and make it happen straight away. Anyone else we get via trade isn’t as well-rounded and would cost precious draft capital.

Would rather take Draper and miss out on Curtin. Pick 23 could still net us something decent in any case.
Would be very tempting and I’m in the it has to be Sid camp.

Jagga- Rich
Sid - Adel
Smillie or Trainor you’d think for North
FOS and Curtin for the Eagles.

Draft Intel would tell if you do that trade or not. Do North and Saints trade? FOS would be a great fit for them but I don’t think North as much.

Sheeds weapons are his offensive abilities, his disposal mostly.
We have almost exclusively offensive mids. Reid, yeo, kelly, Hewett, etc all are attacking first, that's just their game.

Graham is a point of difference
Yes it’s one of the things I have always questioned that we don’t seem to have any defensive mids - that’s where we still miss Redden and don’t seem to have replaced him with a similar player.

If we stay at 3, I really only want one of Draper or Jagga based on what we’ve seen. Not sold on the others based on recent form. Would prefer to trade down with GC or Freo over taking FOS or Smillie.

The club has identified that the players with trade currency is Barrass, Allen, Yeo and Waterman. It knows that it cannot get rid of most of it's core senior players for draft picks otherwise the club will be filled with talented kids who are NOT ready for AFL and will struggle for a lot longer and the kids will not optimally develop without the core senior players there around them. See Norf in 2016-2020.

However they can afford to let one of them go which in this case is Barrass who has good trade value which will help with the rebuild while retaining the other core players. They made it clear to Barrass that the best thing for him is to go to another club who's contending and who needs another KPD as their last missing puzzle. The club must've told him now so he can prepare his family for an interstate move in the coming months.

Not only that, if the club doesn't win anymore matches then we could apply for a priority pick which will give us even more picks in addition to trading Barrass. There's also a good chance that we'll get pick 1 or 2 especially that we'll likely lose to Norf at Marvel, Richmond and Norf still to play against each other and Carlton and Geelong will destroy our percentage. And yep I do not see us winning against Gold Coast.

Right now at the 2024 lore's draft picks, the club doesn't have the best hand but once Barrass goes and the club gets its priority picks approved then it will improve more. This year and next year is make or break in nailing the draft before Tassie comes in and compromises the draft.
Well as we have now beaten the GCS very unlikely we will now finish lower than where we are presently imo so our first pick will still be pick 3.

If barrass goes we shouldn't split.

Take the 2 pick for barrass, one of which likely top 10 and hope he is still there. Use the next pick from Barras and the 23 we have for best available then.

4 kids inside top 30.

English Graham for nothing.

Baker for F3

BW for dees F3 and pass that onto dogs for Garcia.

I’m in the FOS or Sid tent or would consider trade down. Crows would go a mid and if the Saints have 2 picks and likely to go mids. I know it’s a stacked mid draft but not sure any of the ones that would fall to nearly the 9th pick would be and link accumulator we need badly.
