Could work two ways. contract increases inline with the CBA. Or if the CBA increase is greater than an certain amount, the wage increases by either a % or a fixed amount

That stuff all his makes sense

It's the part about a trigger clause for 2023 which is a bit more confusing - unless Port Adelaide have built a time machine

They are terrible supporters.

So glad re. All the time out of the finals and the peptides has pretty much shut them the * up.
I see a massive correlation between the disabled, and Essendon supporters. That is no joke.

They were the bandwagon team of the 90s IMO. Every stupid kid followed them. Like Man U, they were for some reason the first team people knew, so they followed them without knowing the alternatives

The past 20 years have been good. I estimate probably 18 wins and 4 losses.
It will turn around eventually, but the past 20 years have been good

I was in a composite class in 1993, and most of the kids in the level below all followed, "Essedon" despite not knowing any players, or ever watching a game. They then won the flag. It was horrible.

I probably need therapy, but winning 4 flags since sort of helps...

While something of a useless stat, we're no longer oldest list on the league

BTW, I think average age of best 25/30 is a better reflection than simply the full list

Best 25 player ages is a better metric sure but Collingwood would still run pretty close to us wouldn't they? Their average age in the GF was 27 and 9 months

Pretty sure they would

As someone mentioned in the Twitter comments, it's very misleading for WCE as their overall list trends young, but unlikely their round 1 team would be close to that young

Selwood and Dangerfield being good for 10 years > Fyfe and Voss being good for 5 years (this century for Voss given his career straddled the 90s/00s)
Yep I loved Vossy but like Hird, Buckley and others their careers had too even of a split between the centuries to be considered for either.

McLeod is an interesting one, no doubt a great 2000 onwards career but as a kid he dragged the Crows to 2 flags '97-'98. My guess is they are just using overall careers so long as you had a good catalogue 2000 onwards too.

Dangerfield over Fyfe is an obvious one. He's had way more strong seasons and the Ayres award/should've NS in 2022 should have sealed that.

Brown on a forward flank? It's a weird structure but I'd have N.Riewoldt or Pavlich in that role if you pick 3 talls.

S.Mitchell over Burgoyne, I don't care if it makes too many mids.

Fletcher in a back pocket? I'd rather McGovern as a third tall interceptor, or shift Hodge there and have a dynamite runner off the back flank (Houli, Goddard, Shaw, C.Johnson). Gibson or Stewart have been better rebounding back pockets appropriate for that spot than Fletcher, too.

Bailey Smith ACL - may not be seen in the Dogs guernsey again?

I hear the surf coast air is great for injury recovery...

I just wish him well, it probably means he is more likely to stay, but I could be completely wrong.
If we finish out of finals again I think we have to go to the draft anyway.

Surely Selwood ahead of Pendlebury?
Reckon they would go with the consistency argument in this instance. 14/17 top 3 finishes in the Pies BnF is absurd. I’d have Selwood over Cousins for the same reason.

Pendlebury would probably be a better winger than Selwood too, based on where they are picked, but Selwood has probably had the better overall career.

I agree. Average age of the list doesn't mean much unless it is skewed one way or the other. The boring middle is just table-stakes.

Lower average age doesn't necessarily translate into a dynasty in a few years time. I think lower average age is a proxy for athletic prowess (i.e. closer to the peak of their athletic powers, quicker recovery, (maybe) some guarantee against wear & tear type injuries etc.)

Age is one-dimensional. It doesn't necessarily connote to Footy Ability/IQ, Team Cohesion etc.
