That third quarter was terrible but good finish given how many passengers today.

Rioli, Pickett and Martin's first half were excellent. Tarrant I thought did well also and Ross really lifted in that last quarter after we were being annihilated in the middle.

Negatives. Vlas and Graham had absolutely horrid games. Gibcus probably needs a little break his turnovers were extremely costly but I think with Balta back his versatility will allow us to swing them both and play Soldo who was very ordinary again.

Wasn’t really the best match up imo, was alright once the ball was already in our 50 and Rioli was playing defensively but Hurn had the obvious size size advantage whenever it was a 50/50 marking contest

All/mostly comes down to a lack of midfield strength in that 3rd quarter. No defense is capable of stonewalling quickfire and repeat entries.

Lynch & Riewoldt had reasonably quiet games - but that happens.
Tarrant & Grimes did their jobs. Gibcus needs a VFL rest or preferably a week of mostly 3rd key forward role.
Vlas had a shocker but shit happens. Broad good, D Rioli excellent. Grimes and Tarrant solid enough.
KMac & Pickett continually providing exactly what you expect from wingers.
Hugo & Maurice providing what you expect at the early stages of their careers. No fuss if either is sent back to VFL for rest and development ala Judson as long as it is explained as "all good"
Bit disappointed that Graham or to a lesser extent Ross can't step right up and take control of midfield in Prestia and Cotch absence. Feels new-to-position Short & Baker are arguably doing better. Just a personal observation, no criticism meant.

Always thought Soldo was a better option against NicNat & other tall quality rucks. Should have made him first ruck and found Nank a decent supporting role because otherwise Soldo feels a waste of a spot - Miller may have offered more?

Apart from Cotch, Prestia, Balta returning at some stage, Stack is ready and Sonsie is ready for a mostly outside-mid debut.

Eagles are improving and had a point to prove after we embarrassed them on their home deck. I will take the win but our defence has been poor all year. We leaked too many easy goals against Geelong and Sydney which has cost us top 4. If our defence can improve before the finals we give ourselves a chance

I disagree, I think our defence was epic, Eagles won the inside 50's, it was our contested game that sucked, we got taught another lesson today which nearly cost us the game.
