Agree with all except tarantoes disp9sal improving. All one needs to do is watch how often he elects to throw the ball on his boot.
He wouod be struggling to be in the top 100 foorballers in my book. And id be pulling him asside to work on his disposal. Which is Killing us.

Taranto would be leading our B&F and to be a Brownlow Favorite, you would think a player would be in the Top 20, at least, in the comp. I'm not sure if you are comparing him to Dusty during the Dees game, Dusty was in 2017 form. You need players like Taranto in the post Lambert, Edwards, and soon to be Cotchin, Prestia and Dusty (God Forbid).

we are not winning the game if both nank and soldo play

I have nightmares of how bad that combo has been at shitihad
after listening the Minis post match, I have a feeling that Dimma has had too much of an influence on him, that Balta move up forward was done by dimma before. which I still think is the wrong move ATM. Soldo and Nank won't work now because our team is slower than it was when they combined.

listen champ, when you open your eyes from that dream you're having about Taranto, you'll finally wake up (that's debatable BTW) and realise he can't use the ball by foot, he kills our ball usage and affects our football in a negative way.
I'll be happy to shut up once he starts to use the ball better than U12 footballer.
Where do you think he'll finish in the Brownlow?

I agree, we're not that far off.

We need to inject some pace into the side and sort out the clearances. How easy do opposition teams walk it out of the center when we don't win it clean? Seriously nearly every time. With 6-6-6 rule you just can't afford that. Bolton looks great bursting out the front of the stoppage, but it often ends up with his direct opponent in a paddock when we don't win it. The funny thing is we have the cattle to sort that out easily.
Most players are running athletic players I believe, the more speed we can get in the side would surely help. If we can get players that use the ball and are quick with footy smarts will go along way.

All I'm saying to peeps here is please watch him closely, forget the stats, forget the hype, just watch what he does around the football.
When other quality mids make space and extract the ball to find better options 80% of the time, in TTs case it's 30% of the time.
We need quality ball movement to go anywhere in this modern game.

My preferred changes -
In: Bauer, Cumberland, Nankervis, Brown, Short, Coulthard

hf- Martin, Bauer, Baker
ff- Soldo, Riewoldt, Cumberland
r- Nank, Hopper, Bolton
i/c- Prestia, Mansell, Coulthard, Graham

Likely changes -
In: Short, Nank
Out: Banks, Miller

Thought it was as well as we have played for a while, and may well have done a number on the likes of the Pies by seriously playing Melbourne into form.
Dusty was the old Dusty and at the ground I couldn’t help but admire Picketts efforts. He played as the defensive forward on May, on Lever, he rucked and he ran himself to the point of exhaustion.
It was no surprise that we were overwhelmed in the end because a handful of our real hard workers on the day like he, Dusty, Graham, Ross and Taranto were totally cooked.
Melbourne just too good in the end and thats about where we are in reality, not quite there but not way out of reach in a high quality game against a team just about to peak at the right time.

I'm not sure to be honest, Brownlows tends to favour mids with high disposals - but the numbers don't tell the whole story - i dont get sucked in by numbers.
All i am saying is to pay close attention to his play, not his tackling, not his goal kicking, just his usage, WHICH IS the most important attribute we need form an inside/outside mid atm.

I thought Banks went alright with 15pos, 7 Rebound from 50s. Kid is getting better would like to find a way to continue him in the side.

Cumberland and Nank can spend periods of time forward. Ideally, Ryan should be that second forward, but at Marvel, I would pick quicker players on the faster deck and back them in with fast ball movement into the F50.
Cumberland is not tall. Having Soldo Nank and Ryan in the lineup would make us too slow. Need to get the balance right

dimmas definitely been phoning in on selection night and matchday

disappointing loss but we are carrying a few too many players.
Kmac,Graham and miller.. maybe mansell
I’d like cumbo and coulthard both starting in the side.
Time to try brown and a few others. I’d give biggie some game time also.

forwards need to read Taranto better it's obvious when he's in heavy traffic he's going to scrub it onto his boot so if they can see that situation happening get to the bloody front of the defender for his 35m helicopter hacks.

Yeah so did I. His first half was very good. Just not sure we want Banks and Brown in the same backline just yet though and I want to see Brown get a taste.

Young is a spud

A bit harsh but overall Young is more so a stopper, even though he is one of the best league-wise, meaning one on one's and I dare say he has improved as the season has progressed especially in marking but if we are being frank he doesn't provide offensive run, questionable decision-making, isn't overly quick and can panic when under pressure.

With Tarrant not playing and Gibcus out all year and Miller not good one-on-one he was played out of necessity which shows a lack of key position defenders with strength to go one-on-one. If the club has Gibcus in mind to partner with Balta, I can't see him playing as we would be too tall as we already have Grimes, Balta, and Broad plus Vlusuin who can play tall. Tom Brown (193 cms) and Trezise (188 cms) likely to get their chances in 2024.

For those who watched it on TV and can't see the plays happening off screen.

We are not far off it. I was expecting a 5 goal loss and that's what we got, but we dictated terms for huge patches of the game and just a few things going against us in the last (including some fairly ordinary umpiring) cost us in the end. I think we might have mucked up the sub but it was a gamble that would have looked genius if it worked. In any case, the game last week against the Hawks was way worse. We played like a 5-8 side and Dusty is entering god mode for the first time in about 2 years.

I walked away disappointed to have coughed up a 20 point lead, but with more positives than negatives.

We didn't lose because of our key backs. No one could expect three forwards to kick 16.0 between them. No one. If it was 10.6 then we almost pinch the game. We set up specifically to guard the opposition's 40m (not a typo) which meant until the last Q (when we lost the clearances due to Gawn dominating) they were continually taking marks about 50m out, and close to the boundary. That's a low % shot in anyone's books. At the game sitting high up, it was very obvious to see this. And it would have worked if not for their freakishly accurate kicking. Melt all you want about Grimes but he was actually not bad 1 on 1 when they tried to bomb it in deep. It was when they marked further out from goal that he and the other backs got caught out.

Where we lost it was not having a key forward at CHF. Again, you probably can't see this on the TV because it's usually zoomed in on the ball carrier, but we continually kicked it to the hot spot only for no one to be there. Jack battled manfully but his pace isn't there to make use of the quick ball coming in off a turnover. So if you want to know where we lost it, we lost it because we didn't have another marking forward.

Just on Melbourne, they didn't pay us respect early when they had Petracca forward. We cut them up because they didn't have their best onballers in the guts.

They played like a 4th placed team but they are gonna struggle playing an away final against the Brions or Port.

We played like a 5-8 placed team and should we get there and meet Melbourne in a semi well that would be a good matchup.
You make too much sense some of the tripe coming out , we lose to an odds on fav last 15min of the game after being in front all day , sack the coach . That #%#% peanut who said we should be crediting mini for getting close is half right lol as it gives some confidence if we can get some list improvements done right we can compete v top shelf sides

I know our midfield got smashed but our forward line is a big concern. I understand that Lynch isn’t there so we don’t have any targets down the line but the ball just comes our way to easy and we are ZERO chance at the forward line putting any pressure to generate repeat entries.

I’d like to go with a forward line of:

Cumberland Riewoldt Dusty
M.Rioli (Ryan/Miller/Bauer) Coulthard

One of Ryan, Miller or Bauer just need to give us a target, an option! Jack is just too old for this shit and is getting murdered.

I’d like to see Cumberland have the work rate to hit up at a stoppage and back. He’s had some shanks but he’s a solid kick. Or maybe he just needs to stay closer to goal.

Coulthard and Rioli are going to be our Castanga and Butler. Just cause havoc!

Dusty just there to be a difficult match up. Roll into the stoppage, go forward. Man I miss Edwards and lambert making up for Dusty’s defensive efforts. This is where a Graham should be stepping up or maybe a Clarke/Sonsie. But neither look likely at the moment.
