I can't remember where I heard it, but someone was talking about how coachable our side is.Our run & carry by hand has been drastically improved over the course of the season and it's what has made us a legitimate contender. That it wasn't a strength of this team was the one thing that was most likely to get in the way of us winning the flag, because you need it to withstand opposition pressure when they swarm and tackle.
Exhibit A, the passage that led to Papley's great snapping goal early on.

Not one of those handballs is perfect. Heeney's handball goes over Stephens' head. Rowbottom's handball lands at Parker's ankles. Parker's handball is too far in front of Mills. Mills' handball is to Florent who is under immediate pressure. And Florent's handball is to Papley who isn't much better off.
But it matters not because there's always a Swan there, so every handball can be an attacking forward one because they know the next Swan is there for the receive. Everyone's moving and working hard and getting into the spots to either mop up the other's mess, or capitalise on the other's class.
All of the above are under pressure, but they're making it work. That was missing from a lot of our first half of the season, and it's actually remarkable how quickly we have adapted this run and carry into our game style so successfully. Typically it takes teams 1-2 seasons to get this kind of team cohesion together, and we've seemingly done it on the fly in about half a season. Just insane.
We have shown an ability to adapt our gameplan and shift with the opponent, incredibly exciting.
