A full uninterrupted preseason this time will be huge for him and i would think we will start to see him get very comfortable at AFL level this year and i can't wait...massive point of difference player
I'll be hanging on bigman 's training reports to see where he might play. I'm happy wherever, so long as he plays.

I think he's a better half back than half forward, but there's probably more opportunities at half forward next year. Just get games into him.

Genuinely don't know if Curtin, Rankine or Draper will be our most impactful player in 4 year's time. Good problem to have.

Personally i see him this year off half forward as a mobile 3rd tall that has stints in the middle and can play wing too

Toby Murray about 3 quarters in. Looking massive

A. great little video thanks for posting - it looked exhausting and I was glad for Sid's sake he ended up "back home" at the end of all that.
B. no concerns re T Murray, surprisingly athletic from what i saw last year and if his brother is anything to go by will have no trouble with getting up to AFL strength
C. Tyler Welsh back in the gym already you love to see it

??? How so?

The main thing a third tall brings is to set up more favorable match ups for your key forwards, and to help mitigate double teams. Doesn't matter who they are, you can't let a >190cm lad roam free as a deep option and teams only have so many talls to go with players. Then it's to do as much offensive damage as possible with the limited opportunities that come (seeing you'd probably be looking at 2-2.5 shots at goal a game).

By running them as more mobile talls (almost a psuedo wing/CHF like we did with Lynch), you lose that, but you also don't gain anything significant to offset it. After all, your outside game is controlled by your half back flankers and interceptors, so at best they're just smoothing it out, which your two talls are doing anyway to set up counter-attacks. The other side is talls are expensive to run as you're not getting a whole lot pressure/defensive action - especially if you're trying to run them shallower. So it's a lot to trade off for not a whole lot in return.

This kind of transitional role is better handled by a small - and ideally quick - forward. After all, by the time your at your 6th-7th forward, you're not getting much offensive production out of them anyway, plus you're not losing the defensive production. If you want Curtin to be that more mobile, run the lines player, play him as a wing.

Watching this I thought of the massive difference between Sid’s selection response to that of McAsey’s
Well yeah, but if you're drafted to the club that youve supported your whole life and were desperate to play for, your reaction is always going to be different.
