I believe hawks are taking that mid arnt they?
Hawks supposedly are looking at Jai Newcombe and a ruck whose name escapes me ATM. Rumours say Newcombe put a 4 year contract on his requirements to get other teams to not take him, so sounds like maybe Hawks will pick elsewhere first knowing/hoping no one else will grab Newcombe.

i thought they could only choose 6 or 18 months.

I think we need a young small defender as depth and to overtake Brown in the next year or two, especially with lockdown ability.

If we think that is our best option in the MSD, I’ve got no problems with us taking him.

There is blayne o'loughlin in the national draft from our academy this year...i'd be keen to see us take him with his family bloodline and the hype he has had. Might be just the mid to.longer temn ticket to replace brown as he gets towards the end of his career

Yep... blayne is a great option for that role..

Can their condition be that they will only play for certain clubs? Or won't leave their home State?

That's certainly brave to do in the rejects draft.

Yep, you can nominate under "other terms" and he's the only one who has taken that option. He's also signed with Sam Mitchell agent as well apparently.
Surprised he's allowed to do that. That privilege is normally reserved for players who were previously on an AFL list, not first time draftees.

4 years, you gotta be confident to do that!

Though honesty he probably has every right to be. Hawthorn would have told him to do exactly that to make him virtually unavailable for anyone else, and then they can pick someone like Moyle or Callow with their first pick (pick 2).

As for the Crows, as much as I would love to see us take 3 picks, I strongly suspect it will only be Davis and maybe one other.

I really like the look of Thorne; super exciting and exactly what we need. I also think should be getting a development ruck into our system, someone like Heath or Moyle would be great. I know that article linked us to Parnell too, although a small defender wouldn't be my first preference personally.

A 178 cm, 60 kg defender. Why?

He's not 60kg, that weight is from his U17 year. Not that it matters.
Think Caleb Daniel. If we rate Caleb Daniel so highly with his ball use and agility, this guy would be our new Caleb Daniel. I've watched some highlights and wow I'd be stoked if we got him.

And yes technically Blayne would be free but we have Borlase and Newchurch as Cat B, would need to remove at least one to place Blayne or Dudley and in reality I don't think Blayne is going that well currently. I mean better than Newchurch but we shouldn't overrate him.

McPherson has been touted by the club as a Brown replacement. We’ve also got Murphy who can play back, Jones is now playing small defender, Hamill can rotate through. Ultimately its a great spot to blood young midfielders so I wouldn’t be too worried about finding a long term replacement.

Freeman is working for Connor Sports Management - I doubt he will be leaving Melbourne, but you never know.

No reason really he couldn’t work from Adelaide, perhaps manage the Adelaide based players for a while. Depends on how much he wants to play AFL, if we’re the ones giving him an opportunity, if he wants it enough he’ll jump.

Freeman for mine intrigues me, obvious elite level junior talent who’s struggled with injury. Appears to have got his body right and in form. We need as many free hits as we can get. Bringing him across for a 6 month contract seems a great opportunity for such, low risk, potentially high reward. Having said that, I doubt we’re the ones who give him that opportunity.

Isn’t this draft tampering??? F##k me, the AFL is the biggest joke organisation in the world. They have no integrity and just make rules up as they go. Someone needs to push the envelope and ask why clubs like Hawthorn can do this and other clubs like Adelaide keep getting screwed over.

What? We could have done the same. The MSD is like the PSD, name your terms.

It's nothing like the ND or PSD, if players who have never previously been on an AFL list are able to nominate their own terms.

Only players who were previously on an AFL list, in the last 12 months, have the ability to nominate their own terms, when nominating for the ND or PSD.

Not sure any of them are strong enough defensively to play on the likes of Papley, Kozi Picket, Charlie etc.
