Everyone's getting young developing rucks bar the Crows..

South Adelaide bound.

#39

Tom Gillett

height: 202cm
weight:
D.O.B: 09-01-2006
Leagues: AFL U18 Championships, Coates Talent League Boys
STRENGTHS:
  • Mobility
  • Production
  • Upside
  • Versatility
IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Contested work
  • Endurance
Fresh off an AFL premiership, the Brisbane Lions have two significant top-end talents to add to their list in 2024, and perhaps a tall at the back-end in Tom Gillett. The mobile tall has the attention of other clubs too, having earned a state draft combine invite this year.
The Lions Academy product also donned the maroon, blue and gold at VFL level with a pair of appearances late in the season, including three goals on debut against Gold Coast. While ruck has often been his primary position, he doubles as a forward and can play in any key position post.
Gillett's ability to follow-up at the contest and cover ground is terrific, lending to a high-production style. While he can further improve his running capacity, such traits and versatility point towards high upside. Improvement will come once he adds a little more strength to his frame and begins to attack the ball with more vigour aerially, to become a greater contested marking force and more dominant ruck.

With Strachan out for a few months. It's time to start looking.
