Somebody show Warner a reel of his fend offs this year and that 80% haven't worked. Time to either get on the bench press or put it away and ride the tackle or dispose earlier.

His handball in the back line to the feet of Campbell (?) was a coach killer costing a goal.

If there is any highlight from tonight and this season, I managed to convert my partner who was a Cats fan to Swannies.

She bought a beanie, scarf for this game and said to me after the game. "I want a number 21 badge "

Errol, established in the elite and managed to have a new #1 fan.

I got a pic once of my wife in a Swans beanie but she's back to supporting Richmond and being married to her phone. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Injuries played a huge part. Not the only reason of course but at one stage we were losing players weekly. I don't know I feel like it was just one of those seasons where everything kept going wrong. I'm just glad we made the 8, I know it's crap we lost tonight but I think playing finals is invaluable. I'm really optimistic for next season.

yep, things were going wrong even during our late run of wins ... i don't think we ever really had a fit first choice team all season
ideally, we wouldn't have had to play hickey as much, and it's a credit he hung in there and gave us enough
blakey has been forced to learn a genuine defensive side to his game because we lost paddy mccartin, and tom mc and rampe missed games, so blakey will be a much better play for it but it curbed his attacking game and made him more vulnerable to being taken out of the game
campbell will be a better player after this season, and warner too will develop and learn from things that didn't go right so easily for him this season
gulden and mclean stood up as leaders and genuine big-stage players tonight
mcdonald wasn't at his best but he's still had a great year, and one to build from
mcinerney came back to his best this season
amartey again showed what he is capable of, just needs to strengthen and build fitness
sheldrick has shown in his handful of games he could be the next great addition to our midfield, there's real quality to him
florent keeps improving
and even melican showed again tonight he could be a real asset if he can stay on the field

i believed this two years ago, and even more so now, this is a core group building on a similar trajectory to how the current brisbane side has evolved, but we never had to sink as low as they did, and i think because of that we have a higher ceiling
this is a genuinely very talented group, we just need to keep turning the puzzle, and working out the right pieces

Not sure where to put this, but to be honest, I don't have faith we will do much in the end when it comes to trades and building up our club. Some out of our control but also a lot that we are just not a destination club. Gil has screwed us over, and unless the AFL wants the Swans to languish for the next 10 years, they need to start doing something.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think it's a while until our next flag.

Heeney the most over rated swan I’ve seen in years
A lot of that is due media academy fearmongering imo which raised his expectations much higher than reality.

People thought he was going to be winning multiple brownlows which was never going to happen for a medium sized forward who can go into the midfield

If he was a regular high first round draft pick most people would be ok with Heeney.

Has an AA under the belt, a great highlight reel, would hope he achieves more but he’s had the same AA selections as some swans greats in O’keefe, Jack, McVeigh, Parker

Voss taking one out of the Longmire playbook.

Even though you haven't seen the Jack Martin incident when you have, he still won't be playing next week.

Well said. The future looks good. We only needs some small refinements and player development to become a real contender.

Inconsistent with Martin saying that Voss said it was a good tackle when he went to the bench too lol

I still cant get over that Errol point, such a shame. If that was through and we won he would've genuinely had one of the all time great finals performances.

On selection calls - Melican for Fox was a massive success IMO. JMac for Stephens (or Fox if the magnets were swung around) was a bust.

In fact, Melican can probably count himself unlucky to (likely) not be best 22 next year if we do get McKay.
Not sold on Melican being the correct call but it was probably break even in the end.

Curnows dribble goal in the first was because McKay peeled off of Melican while he was ball watching

Missed spoil from Meli when McKay luckily missed from 1m out

I’ll always remember that bloody centre bounce free, straight after we’d kicked 2 quick goals in the 3rd.

Still no idea what it was for.

Feels like it was the most critical moment in the game.
Was at the game made no sense, there was about 4 free’s paid after it that were critical too.

They just shouldn’t pay any free kicks in the ruck, we never win any in the ruck for some reason.

Cotterall - dangerous tackle
Cripps - HTB on Lloyd

We’re the other stand outs that I am still struggling to understand how they were paid.

The umpire shouldn’t pay free kicks for dangerous tackles, let the MRO suspend players if it’s actually dangerous that’s more of a setter at unless it’s blatant.

It killed our momentum in 3rd quarter and got Blues 3 goals, really hard to swallow.

Was Logan’s arms chopped in 4th quarter or did the Carlton player actually spoil it?

As much as I don't want to acknowledge it, I can't ignore the Adelaide vibe of them being happy with those two calls tonight. One was correct, not sure of the second but was always going their way when goal ump soft called it as touched.

I’d have those 4 over Heeney any day, for someone on his huge coin he doesn’t deliver. He dominates against poorer opposition but goes missing when it counts.

Yeah true, as much as we didn't deserve it because it wasnt our fault, you can probably say that the Karma has been restored.

I think Rampe has lost his mojo, maybe Melican, McCartin and another KPD trade could be a better 3 tall line up. Melican is in his prime

don’t think there’s space long term for all three of Amartey, McDonald and McLean

Happy with McDonald’s progress this year, think he’s tracking along fine - gone from 9 gl in 7 games to 15 goals in 17 games to 30 goals in 19 games

McLean’s convinced me he’s best 22 if that’s his ceiling particularly the need for a back up ruck

Amartey is just depth imo
