Changes vs Bombers

Personally I think Tamblings poor decision making is overstated.

Remember, he played for Richmond, at team that can not hold a 14 point lead with 70 seconds to play (what twice) I can only imagine the destruction nature of playing in a team like that (well actually know exactly what is is like, I worked in a environment which was very similar)

Yep, happy to see Bling get a game. Win win for us. Either he plays well and works his way back into our starting 22, or he doesn't, and we can start to look at moving him on.

Well Macca23, my feeling that we may not play the extra tall in the forward line now that Porplyzia is spending more time as a lead up forward is not looking too bad?

When Kurt is ready I believe he will replace Jenkins and we will rotate Petrenko, Porplyzia and Callinan in the front four with Walker and Tippett/Jacobs with Douglas, Vince etc as the high half forwards

final changes;

OUT; Mckernan, L.thompson, Symes, Mackay (toe)

In; Hurley, hooker, colyer, Longeran, dyson

So does this mean Symes' card is now marked?? I dont think we'll see Smack again this year if Tippo can get himself back into the team. Jacobs and Shaw are good ins. Surpirsed Hille has been dropped.

Like the changes this week.

Symes didn't offer much as the sub the past two weeks, McKernan was beaten by Jenkins for mine as the 2nd ruck, and Tambling/Riely have been in good form for Sturt.

Shaw looks 100% better than Thompson IMO. Much more composed and a better leg.

I am pleased to see Riley in for Symes, Jacobs for McKernan and Shaw for Thompson (Lynch was BOG for Glenelg in defence two weeks ago before getting an excellent view of the Geelong match last week and boosting his frequent flyer points. We are obviously giving everyone a game or two, starting with the oldest players first).

I think you are a bit harsh on Luke Thompson. I think it has been pretty clear from the pre-season onwards that I am a huge fan of Sam Shaw. The issue with Luke Thompson is that he was playing his first game for the year against a team that was all over us in the first half. He spent a lot of time on Walker who didn't do much and then moved onto Hawkins when Talia was hit by a flying Symes. Judged through the Doughty googles he was quite "solid".

Tought on Symes. He's not a sub and to give him only that chance is poor. L Thompson also stiff but that change was obvious. He is defintley a keeper as we have no depth in the CHB area. I think he is more a KPD than a third tall. Lets not forget when hot, Hawkins is a gun.

Tambling and Symes both currently fill the same void for mine - depth players (albeit ones we paid too much for...) who can both earn a spot due to their strengths, but who aren't likely to be playing when we have our best 22 available.

Symes out, Tambling in. No net loss there, and at least Tambling has a higher ceiling!

Hope its:

Jacobs in for McKernan
Shaw in for L Thompson
Riley in for Symes
Tambling in for MacKay

Well picked :p

I reckon Thommo will come in more next year

I rate the guy but 1 game hardly makes a career.

I watched the game when it was replayed on Fox and Thompson wasn't to bad in the second half and to be fair it isn't unforgivable to take time finding your feet in your first match in 18 months on a sheep paddock. He seems to have his card marked by a few here already but a few people thought Bock was shit at the same age, I still see L Thompson being our CHB in a couple of years time

Good changes considering who is available. Great to see the list exposed so informed decisions can be made on who stays and who leaves (at years end), who plays and who doesn't (come finals). So that this is not just a nothing post or a 'motherhood statement', I think that both Tambling and Riley wll do OK,and that we will beat the Bombers!
